so this is one of 3 new prints that i have made for botcon 2010.this time i thought i'd do a take on the IDW ongoing prime. but the one that was from the first issue. i guess it would be Don's take on EJ's prime.
anyhoo i liked it so i just had to draw it.
this time i was able to get the amazing espen to colour it. i don't know how he does it, but it amazes me every time i see him colour something.

One small critique; his right lower fist seems small to me for some reason. But aside of that, this is one of the coolest Optimus Prime drawings I've ever seen!! I think seeing those rubber wheels peaking on the side of his rib cage is so hard in realism, and I totally love seeing the arc in the background.
This capture the show that put Transformers on the map perfectly. Optimus rules, thanks to your buddy for coloring great and thanks for posting this bad ass sh*t!

This might just be the quintesson, sorry... quintessential Optimus Prime image. One of my favourite parts is the ark in the background, strangely. It's not often that Transformers pics have a setting as opposed to a generic background.

This was probably the best rendition of Don's new Prime, or any Prime for that matter. It has a great amount of the complexities everyone's been going for recently, but stays closer to the core style that is Optimus Prime. It's like it borrows all the best elements from his classics style, his IDW movie-ish form, and his G1 self at just the right amounts. By far the best of I've seen of him to date.
And yes, the color work is absolutely astounding!
