There have been many rumors of dark guardians, so (THIS IS MY THEORY, DO NOT TAKE THIS FOR FACT) maybe in destiny 3 this would be an area to get dark powers. I say destiny 3 because in an interview, someone from bungie explained that they have taken "the darkness" out of destiny temporarily, so the writers can create a strong story and actually figure out what the darkness is. Although the triangle ships are probably the edrich (look it up) they will probably be "the darkness" and would be a much larger enemy in D3

Best I can make out it is what looks like a statue depicting four beings holding up the Traveler on their backs and the front being seems to have both Hive and Vex features. Maybe it's Nokris and the other three are Oryx and his Siblings?

I have loved all of the artwork for Destiny and Destiny 2, and this is definitely no exception! Lovely work. That looks like some sort of Hive/other race hybrid obelisk thingy. Really gets my mind going with other ideas and plots!
