how did you have a shutter speed of 675 sec without using a filter?

Quite simple really, you shoot before first light. I will always try and get to location around Astronomical First Light, which is a about 1 1/2 hours prior to sunrise. Then shoot between Astro and Nautical first light which is an hour prior to sunrise. You do not need any filters.

Thats when the light is at its best, once first light arrives, 1/2 hour prior to sunrise, the light becomes too harsh. That's the rule of thumb, but weather will vary this, i.e. a very cloudy morning.

My best advice, understand your equipment back to front and read, read, read and read about photography.

Magnificent! Sorry to be so dumb, but does "TV 675" mean 675 seconds (11 1/4 MINUTES??) ? And are they the beginning of star trails in the sky?

Thank you.
It certainly is 11/4 minute exposure. TV means shutter time. Yes they are star trails. Yhe are aligned with the point of view as I was facing due south.
