A lot of people who believed the Stanley theory (when it still was just that) also believed Stanley was in the portal, because of a doodle in the journal showing two people throwing another person tied to a rope into the portal. This being assumed as McGucket and Stanford growing Stanley in. Then stuff got real and bye bye Stanley for the next 30 years.

I've been wondering what Bill was trying to get out of Gideon. I don't think he wanted him as a vessel because Gideon isn't exactly physically menacing. Maybe he wanted the connections Gideon had with the Society of the Blind Eye. Maybe the S.O.B.E. had some important information Bill needed.Β
