Driving from one edge of the state to the other would be an overnight tripe, the entire dayΒ at least, and they were going to "video chat" again just hours latter, as in on the same day, and both of their plans were to get to the other one's home before the designated chat time as a surprise, which neither would have managed if they had driven the entire way.
