Description
I was asked to paint this to illustrate a Dr Who story idea about four years ago, before the new series was announced. The actors I used were Robbie Coltrane, Richard Roxburgh and Kate Beckinsale. It's acrylic on watercolour board.Related content

It's amazing! Is it for "Doctor who:Β The Crystal of Cantus"?

Thanks- it was done for a speculative Who story before the show was revived. I haven't gotten around to doing anything based on the new series yet...

Now, I've never watched Dr Who, but I have some good friends who pine over it at every passing chance!
Nevertheless, this is a really great piece! Your sense of volume and lighting is impeccable. And then you seem to have the whole "old movie poster" style down to pat, too! Very nicely composed and pulled off.

Thanks This one is in acrylic on not-surface watercolour board, so again the grain is on show. Dr Who is huge at the moment in the UK....I should do something with the current stars of the show in it!

Thanks Mike. I based him on the actor Richard Roxburgh (Roxborough?)- the illustration is for a fan Dr Who story. I have been thinking of doing some comic strips in this style- what do you think? Mark

I think it would look great! But man, sounds a little work intensive. I hope you can do it.
