EDIT: oops, fixed a link!Trying some stuff in 3D again, this time with a character model from one of my absolute favorite games!
I think a remaster like the new Crash and Spyro games would be amazing for Rayman 2, although I'd much rather just see a Rayman 4.
I re-drew the eye-textures, posed the model, made it higher poly, set up the lighting, rendered it in Blender (forgot to use Cycles, oops) and improved the render in Photoshop.

On the topic of remastering Rayman 2, I think the character model could look a lot better than this, I'd much rather see something more expressive like in the promo art: [ Link! ]
I think it would be a shame if they remade everything with the Origins/Legends artstyle and themes, the 3D Rayman games had such a different and interesting vibe and I think it's a real shame that most of that is now completely gone from the franchise. Still love Origins and Legends though, without a doubt some of the best 2D platformers out there, but as Rayman games I think they leave a lot to be desired.

It's not that I wouldn't apprechiate a HD version but there has been many Rayman 2 reboots already; Revolution (PS2), DS, 3DS

Those are ports, what I meant with 'remaster' is something like the new Crash and Spyro trilogies.

Well, Rayman Revolution is kind of a Remaster, Ubisoft even added new and different things like completed voice acting and (an) open world map(s) with additional (if only irrelevant/decorative) NPCs (while the original Rayman 2 just had a linear Level Selector in Revolution you had to explore and find the portal to the next level). Also I believe the special abilities like "Barrel Runner" and "Double Shot" were also new (I never played the original Rayman 2 so I'm not sure)

Yeah Revolution is basically a port with some upgrades (but also downgrades), I certainly wouldn't call it a remaster though.

I personally wouldn't mind if they were to remaster 1 or 2 with Origins aesthetics. Although, I will admit there's a distinct vibe the original designs have that can't be matched.
