Description
Here are some screenshots I took during the construction of My Minecraft Sphinx and the destruction of the surrounding landscape. It was a pretty mammoth undertaking as I decided to form the shape of it mostly through excavation, rather than building it, and then had to swap sand and sandstone into the outer layer once I had the shape. Madness.

Step 1: Built head and shoulders out of dirt next to base in the middle of the desert.

Step 2: Dug out sand and rock to create sphinx body and surrounding valley.

Step 3: Created steps round edge of valley replacing top layer with sand.

Step 4: Dug out and replaced floor of valley with sand. (Beds were added to the game at this point, making everything a lot quicker!)

Step5: Replaced entire surface of sphinx with sandstone.

Step 6: Hollowed out inside of sphinx to create a large cave-like, sphinx-shaped house.
