Description
Yes, even I will admit that The Simpsons is nowhere near as good as it was in its prime, but to say that Family Guy is better than The Simpsons is as disrespectful as claiming Lady Gaga is better than Madonna, when it is the other way around for both. Besides, The Simpsons was already in its tenth season when Family Guy premiered. And while The Simpsons was far from the first animated sitcom, especially since The Flintstones predates it by nearly 30 years, there would not have been a Family Guy without it.
Plus, even in its infancy, Family Guy was accused of stealing ideas from The Simpsons (and yes, I am aware that both shows eventually had a crossover). Examples of the show's past infractions: In "There's Something About Paulie" (second season, 2000), there is a scene where Peter is at a casino playing blackjack and says "Hit me" five times, which would remind anybody of the flashback scene in "Brother from the Same Planet" (fourth season, 1993) where Homer does the same thing (Bart says Homer bet the family's life savings too).
In "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds" (sixth season, 1995), Santa's Little Helper (who will be referred to as "SLH" for the rest of these comments) mates with another greyhound at the racetrack where Homer found him in "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire". The Family Guy episode "Screwed the Pooch" (third season, 2001) features a scenario which is identical, but basically with Brian instead of SLH.
Also during "Two Dozen and One Greyhounds", Homer attempts to eat a bag of chips, but the puppies fathered by SLH constantly steal and eat them, eight times in total. In "Brian Wallows and Peter's Swallows" (third season, 2002), a similar scenario plays out when Peter sees a movie, but substitute chips with popcorn kernels, and puppies with birds (they nest in a beard Peter has in that episode).
In "The Son Also Draws" (first season, 1999), Lois has a gambling addiction, which is a situation identical to Marge's during "$pringfield (Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling)" (fifth season, 1993). Characters aside, this should be more than obvious to anybody who has seen both.

P.S. No flames, please. This reflects my personal opinion.
