Ever since Kei had hatched, he hurt. His legs ached with each step, and he couldn’t use his arms or swoop down from a tree without at least some pain, especially if he did that for a while. However, his back legs hurt the most, he tried many pain remedies, but none worked. After a long and painful day, he finally told his mom all of the pain he was in, he didn’t want to bother her and she already had a lot on her plate, as she was trying to find a new home for them both. Ciruela immediately swooped Kei off his feet and used her wind magic to get him to Dr. F’s office as quickly as possible. Cirulea landed and quickly brought Kei inside. Dr. F was kinda shocked by the worry in Cirulea’s eyes, but the pain-filled eyes of Kei. Ciruela laid Kei on a table. Dr.F looked him over, seeing slight swelling on his joints, and Kei told him the pain he had experienced over his young life. Dr. F honestly had never really seen this too often, so he wrapped his back legs, using soft compression bandages. Dr.F stood Kei up gently and smiled at him. “You’ll be ok. I cannot promise that the pain will go away at all, but soon you’ll feel better pain wise hopefully. I need to let you know we can only manage the pain.” Cirulea covered her mouth, not knowing how she could care for a wyngling, which she wasn’t exactly ready for, with such a disability. Kei looked back at his mom, confused. He knew that he was weird and not the best child, but why would his mom act so shattered? Was he broken? That was it; he had to be too broken for his mom. What happened next didn’t surprise him at all. His mom, taking one of his molting feathers, got dropped off at the nook. “I promise baby, I love you so, so much. I just don’t know how to care for you right now. I promise I will come back for you, I will never, ever forget about you. I will come by every time I can and trust me, I have lots of free time.. Im so sorry baby ” Cirulea picked Kei up, tears falling from her eyes, and she hugged Kei tightly, not wanting to ever let go, but she had to. She needed for her child to have a proper childhood, something Cirulea could never give him. Kei brought his claw up, using his thumb to wipe Cirulea’s tears out of her eyes. “Mommy, I love you too” He wiggled and hugged the arm of Cirulea. Cirulea set Keialai down, and Cirulea crouched down and booped Kei’s head. She stood up and left, her head low and soft whimpering coming from the biped. Kei started crying as soon as Cirulea couldn’t hear him. He wasn’t crying because of his mom leaving him, but because his mom was so sad to leave him. He knew it was only a matter of time, but His mom couldn’t care for him properly, not because she didn’t love him. He couldn’t be sad for long, as it is the nook, a wyngling came in, but this time with an adult. The wyngling looked kinda like him! Kei walked up to them after wiping his tears and said a pitiful hello. The quill, didn’t seem to mind, and shouted loudly: “Hi! I’m Danny!! Let’s play!” Kei nodded, thinking that they would maybe play hide and seek or something similar. “Oh! Are you ok? You have bandages on your legs! It’s fine! Let’s play!” Kei smiled, and followed slow and steady after the fast and talkative quill.
