I felt the same about FREEHAND. It need a bit courage to learn a new program after you learnt already one. But it is a great feeling if you try it nevertheless because the result is that you know more about two programs.

I just can't seem to figure the right tool for line bending, thats my current main problem >_<

Culu-Bluebeaver In reply to Marnodor [2007-09-10 16:45:01 +0000 UTC]
Oh to bend a line you must use that WHITE arrow symbol inside the tool-palette. Choose that tool and click to one end of the line and then hold the left mouse button and pull. You will see how it works.

Marnodor In reply to Culu-Bluebeaver [2007-09-10 17:11:14 +0000 UTC]
But it doesn't bend, it just drags the node of the line :/
I mean to bend or curve the line, is there an easy tool for that?
For example Flash got an easy tool for that, you just click on the middle of the line and drag it to curve it as you wish, is there some thing similar ?

Culu-Bluebeaver In reply to Marnodor [2007-09-10 17:24:36 +0000 UTC]
Do you really use the PEN (P) tool? There is also another way: Click left (witht he mouse) to start the line then click again with left and pull. If you do that you can the ben the line. If you look closely you will find two blue lines on the line ends. If you use now the white arrow tool you can pull that blue lines to control the bending.

I will try the pen tool then, when you are working how do you mostly bend lines ?

Oh um... often concerning details like leaf, trees, hands and more. For heads and ears I use often the circle tool which is also quite useful for HTF-clouds and other things. If you use the PATHFINDER palette you can rework instant elements like circles or cubes by fusing or punch/stamp them. There are so many way's inside those programs.

That's the wall you have to overbear if you change to another program I had to learn that too when I changed from FREEHAND to ILLUSTRATOR. It was very hard and my first tries in it... well they were very bad XD

Oh I practice Illustrator now since month so my latest arts are the best I can currently do. If you wanna see one of the old-first tries you should look to the picture "New beaver in town". It was one of my first Illustrators tries.
