Jade is a very feisty, competitive dragon pony. Jade has never had an eye for fashion, jewelry or anything really girly like her mother does. She still will hang around home and help out her mother and sister in the boutiques, often working as a mannequin for them. It's not her most favorite thing to do, but family means more than anything to her. Jade tends to get a little to competitive at times, making her a perfect friend for Thunder Blitz and Midnight Gleam. These three are often seen having races through the skies, with Thunder almost always winning. Jade can find it hard to fit into society at times since she is a hybrid. Many ponies are terrified of dragons to begin with, so having a very dragonesque appearance makes many ponies avoid her, making her feel like she is a monster. Her friends understand how she feels and will do anything in their power to help ponies see that she is no different than them. While she does enjoy spending time with her friends, she tends to spend more time with her father and others dragons, feeling more at home with them.

Relationships:

Jade has a great relationship with her family. She's very loyal to everypony, even if they put her into embarrassing costumes. Jade and Opal get along greatly, having a true sisterly, twin bond. Even though the two are completely different in personality, you'll rarely see the two have a fight. Jade helps Opal out quite often by bringing her gems and such for her jewelry line, and Opal helps out Jade by providing new challenges for Jade's training, supplying extremely large rocks for jade to try and break down. Jade also has a close relationship with her mother, often using her fire breath to melt metals and gems for her mother's fashion lines. Even though Jade isn't what Rarity expected, she still loves her daughter more than anything, fully supporting her daughter's dragon nature. Jade loves to spend time around her father, and always begs him to take her out to see the dragons. Although Spike is happy that his daughter has such an interest in her dragon heritage, he wishes she would want to spend more time around ponies, feeling that would help her fit in with pony society better.

Jade, Midnight, and Thunder are very close friends, and are often seen as the speedsters of Ponyville. Although Jade has moved away from Ponyville, she still visits and spends a lot of time with these ponies. Midnight doesn't hang around them very often however, especially since she spends most of her days sleeping. Thunder and Jade however are almost always together, laughing and hanging out. Jade is completely oblivious to it, but Thunder has a massive crush on her. She believes that Midnight and Thunder would make a perfect couple however, so she'll spend a lot of time trying to hook them up. Midnight can tell Thunder has a huge crush on Jade, but she would never expose her friend, although she has told Jade a few times that Thunder is interested in somepony else.

When it comes to the other children of the mane 6, Jade struggles to get along with them. It's not that they're rude to her, or she's rude to them, it's just she thinks that they're afraid of her like the other ponies in town. They all do their best to hang around her and make her feel comfortable with them, but it's easy to tell that she's nervous about the friendship. There's a lot of uncertainty in the friendship, but Opal is the biggest advocate for both sides, telling Jade that nopony fears her in their group of friends, and telling the others they just need to be patience.

Talent/Cutiemark/Abilities:
Jade's special talent revolves around her ability to breathe fire. She has very excellent control over it, using it to mold gems together into beautiful hybrids, and even sometimes performing tricks with it. She, however, tends to ignore this talent, only focusing on her love flight and speed, but she seems to forget how she got her cutie mark. Her cutie mark appeared on her flank the day she showed her outstanding speed, however it was because it was way past her curfew time, and she had promised her mom she'd help out in the boutique, preparing it for the next day. Jade had made many beautiful gems that night, hoping for her mother's forgiveness, and believes her cutie mark appeared as she made the gems, however, it appeared as she came blazing through the door of the boutique. Jade's uncertainty in how she received her cutie mark has an impact on her own confidence in herself.
