I bet you didn't expect this one, huh? Yep, the classic color scheme of our favorite plumber in minifigure form was a recolor idea I thought of, and I think it turned out fantastic.

Background:
Over thirty years ago, Mario looked much different, and little less colorful than we now know him. He still had his red hat, but his eyes were brown, and he wasn't wearing any gloves. Even thirty years ago, Mario still looked as cheerful as ever. You'd think thirty years of rescuing a princess who doesn't increase security would make him a bit moody, but he's still the optimist we know.
