Sub-Zero's LEGO minifigure debut is long overdue, considering how long ago it was that I uploaded Scorpion in his Injustice: Gods Among Us design. But now Kuai Lang is ready to be showcased in all his ice-powered glory. If you're wondering why neither Scorpion nor Sub-Zero's minifig designs resemble their traditional ninja appearances, this is because I can't find a ninja mask head piece that could accurately depict the classic costume appearances. I may end up just drawing my own. It should also be noted that Sub-Zero's shoulder pads are a separate piece from the usual minifigure torso, and work similarly to the vests worn by the Jurassic World ACU Troopers, for instance.

Background:
After becoming a cyborg and subsequently being killed at the conclusion of Mortal Kombat 2011, Kuai Liang was reborn as a revenant, an undead demonic version of himself. During a mission to capture Quan-Chi, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade were surrounded by Scorpion, and revenant versions of both Jax and Sub-Zero. Although Johnny was almost killed and reborn as a revenant, Raiden appeared and was able to reverse the process, saving Johnny, but also unexpectedly saving Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Jax in the process. Now fully restored to life, Sub-Zero has become the new grandmaster of his Lin Kuei clan, and has restructured its emphasis on protecting Earthrealm, and abandoning the Cyber Initiative. During this period, Sub-Zero also managed to discover through data of Sektor's cyborg memory that his older brother was in fact, not responsible for the death of Scorpion's family, and the two ninjas have since been on much better terms. Sub-Zero also serves as a significant ally to the combatant team led by Cassie Cage, and provides assistance during Shinnok's invasion of Earthrealm. In addition to participating in the fight against Shinnok's NetherRealm forces, Sub-Zero has also discovered that the memories of his former Lin Kuei comrades, Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke, have formed into one cyborg being known as the Triborg. Sub-Zero is now dedicated to ensuring that the Triborg will not regain control of the Lin Kuei to continue the Cyber Initiative.
