Thats awesome! I have been looking at RISD for a future college, along with Illustration (that's the major I want to do so far), how do you like it??

I really like risd! Overall it's a high quality education, It gives you a lot of highly valueable and unique/exclusive resources and opportunities. There are a lot of teachers who know their shit and truly care about your artistic growth. if you don't really do your research with class selection, or don't have a good plan b when you don't get the classes you want, your experience can be hit or miss. But if you know the tips and tricks and decide to really take control of your experience and find the best classes and teachers, and talk to people, you can really get exactly what you want from it. It's a good place to have multiple interests, too, ie. my main thing is character design/visdev for narrative, but I also like making music, sewing, woodworking, creature costume making, etc and have been able to do all those things for credits!

It is very fast paced and busy overall, freshman year is intense,
but you have the opportunity to try a lot of different things. Once you are in your major it's a little easier. Illustration has the least required classes- only sophomore year is made up of required classes, and you're able to take a custom schedule for your junior and senior year.

I would say one of the biggest advantages at risd is that it teaches you design process thinking, which you can apply to anything, and it makes you very versatile as an artist. People in the industry mention that as the thing that makes risd graduates notably valueable & unique from others.

Providence is really pretty cool if you go outside of the risd bubble and explore it! It has all the amenities of a big city but the intimacy and walking convenience of a small city.
