It's been a while since I worked on a hyper-realistic portrait from a photo reference - years, actually. So I wanted to see if I was still any good at it. I feel that not only do I still have these skills, but I have definitely improved considerably. I am really proud of this one and I am not finished with her yet. It's been difficult to find good references of the cherub on her choker but I believe I have now sourced out some excellent shots and I have my own ref books on the film to also go back to. Not all of this drawing will be as detailed as the center of her face, but I at least want the choker to be somewhat readable as a definite shape instead of nebulous shading. I've done that before as a young artist when there were no better references, but I'm pretty anal these days with hi res shots - there's no reason the give up on getting the finer details right because it trains the eye.

"Dracula" is my favorite novel of all time. I've read it a fair number of times, now it's just like a comfort book for me. Bram Stoker and Dracula were the first author/book I'd ever done deep research on and it turns out that Stoker and I share a birthday, which I am, please excuse the pun intended, pretty *stoked* about!
