Operating in deep space, all ships of the Mandate must be prepared to be confronted with the unknown, even the unimaginable. Experience is invaluable for ships and their crews, as they venture ever further onto the Far Frontier.

The strain of deep space on the material, health, and morale makes small expeditions to new worlds almost always prohibitively costly. The rising Mandate Power of Pan-Europa has embraced this fact and begun to invest in massive pushes on the frontier to maximize efficiency. Instead of small, gradual expansion, huge swaths of space were claimed and pacified in sweeping operations. While risky, such campaigns can offer incredible rewards, and are the best known way of establishing a colonial presence large enough to become viable long-term without pouring a constant stream of supplies and resources into it from back home.

But, of course, the universe does not easily accept such sweeping change without resistance. Even after the initial push is done, the resolve of the frontier forces may yet be put to the test. Every day could be the one, where they will face a sudden and overwhelming response.
