Out there, among the stars, humanity will face its greatest challenge. It will not be the fight against an overwhelming foe, nor the unraveling of ancient mysteries, even though both causes are just and noble. But the greatest challenge will be the creation of a new era: The unification of all humanity.

For thousands and thousands of years, cultures and peoples have been enslaved and displaced, their fates decided by different masters. And though somewhere benevolent, and other tyrannical, all robbed humanity of the chance to forge its own destiny.

To bring about this new era, the golden age of a galaxy-spanning community of worlds, the Tau'ri will need to build new bridges, to erect new colonies and centers for the estranged strands of humanity to find one another once again, to learn from one another, to teach and be humbled, and to forge a new and better future.

Such a future, as it is being only dreamed of up to now, will have humble beginnings. But this utopia is alive already in the minds of those pioneers setting out in trading and development convoys across the galaxy, ready to set up the first foundations of the new world.
