Description
Plumes of iridescent matter erupt from the cannons like burning powder, wisps of plasma swirling like smoke in their wake. A full broadside firing envelops the entire ship in glowing radiation and light, incidentally blinding sensors and telescopes of the enemy. The fiery trails reach far into the void, lingering as though to write the course of battle into space.

Inside the shaken hull reverberate the crash of guns and rattling of machinery, as the cannons are reloaded with new shot for the next salvo. Weapon mechanisms hiss and sing with heat on deck. Starship cannons do not engage in rapid fire, so as not to set the entire hull alight. Even so, the gun-decks and armored barbettes are furnaces fed by the ship's magazines, closely monitored by damage control.
The next broadside goes like rolling thunder, cannons firing right from prow to stern in close succession.
