Do you make a new layer for each step or same layer?

I'm pretty sure that it's a new layer for each step..

I don't understand how you get the photo afterwards. I tried erasing everything to see how it looked but it was the original photo? How do I finish it?

I take it each fill should be done on seperate layers? I'm going to try this out! I've been looking for a good tutorial.

and what is soft light opacity? ><
at the moment my picture is just light blue or orange xD

maybe you can tell me with numbers? cause i have to change the modus of the layers or?
for example:
1: normal
2: destruction
a.s.o.
this would be really nice of you then i can count them down

Actually, this is quite confusing. I mean, you don't tell what color to use. It's not very detail. Do you use color or just use the burn tool?

Just a quick question.
Am I creating a new layer for each step? Or is each step for the new layer I originally filled with white?

Ok, I am still new to gimp and I really want to learn this technique! Can you tell me how to set the overlay by 20% and where to find it also? Then I don't know where the opacity button is either! It looks great by the way...I can't wait to learn it once I understand the overlay and opacity! Thanks, katrynnie
