i really like the way the bg looks really faded and in the distance.

Much like the other piece, I do like the color pallete, but what really stands here is what's happening in the background. There is so much detail there that one can pick up on, and was actually very captivating to look at. Very well done.

Ye should check out an artist by the name of Turner. I absolutely love him, and this work is slightly reminiscent of his.

Brushstrokes in the foreground are a bit obvious and distracting. I usually like visible stokes but not when they look very default-ish. Otherwise I think its a very nice and atmospheric piece. I love the transition from the foreground heap to the background.
