A custom type design for a tattoo. The typeface was developed from calligraphy I did based on Burgundica by Gerrit Noordzij.
Photos will be posted when the tattoo is done.

Thank you.
Part of the credit should go to Gerrit Noordzij who designed the typeface Burgundica which I used as reference to do calligraphy which I then used to develop this tattoo design. I actually showed the design to him because he's one of my idols and I thought he could appreciate my work. He told me "The mistakes are original. The rest is plagiarism". What an arrogant twat. It's like he assumed I was trying to copy his typeface and so where I consciously deviated from his work apparently he saw that as mistakes. I showed him the original calligraphy I did which I used to develop this tattoo design so he could see I didn't just copy his work but I never got a response back. What a fuckwad. It did teach me not to idolize people though.

Well, that was one hell of a reply. Yeah, what a douche. He's either full of himself (like you said and most likely) or paranoid people are ripping him off. Still not right to say that to somebody. I never really had an idol but I can imagine feeling really peeved and disappointed. Hey, better you know he was a douche than to go on idolizing him, right?

I think he's just arrogant. He's an old guy and one of the master type designers of the Netherlands. He actually taught a man I worked for for a year and who helped me a bit with my typefaces now and then.
And I think "idol" is perhaps too big of a word. I do have many people I consider "heroes" in a way; big inspirations. A lot of type designers, a few graphic designers and a few physicists.
