"A really 'cool' place indeed..." Gin commented, sarcasm in his tone. The Rockruff didn't want to come yet he couldn't let his friendsー correction, his friend, and his friend's friend, to wander into the forbidden place like this with just the two of them. Even god can't guess what these two troublemaker felines will do when left alone.
Shin, the one he acknowledges as his friend, bundled close to his fluffy fur for warmth. The Purrloin's fur wasn't long nor warm enough to protect him from the freezing cavern. Not too far from them was Shin's friend, Ban, somewhat shivering from the low temperature as well, although the Shinx prided himself not to depends on Gin for warmth.
"Now that we have seen this place," a soft sigh escaped him as Gin opened his mouth, "Can we just go back home now?"
With their ranch being on almost the southernmost part of the island and long convincing to Royal, the trio eventually had the Mewtwo to teleport them to an area closest to the chasm (while keeping the secret of them wanting to visit the chasm from Royal of course).
"Are you kidding me?" Shin scoffed, "We have yet to see the said man-eating feline!"
"It's just rumored, there's no proof it's even in here!!"
"There's no proof that it's not 'not here' as well!" Ban countered, prancing forward. Shin nodded in agreement to the Shinx and followed in his footsteps. Gin could only tiredly roll his eyes away as he trailed behind the felines.
The chasm was faintly lit with lanterns that are far and in between the cold rocky wall. Shin shivers with every step he took yet wanting to be the one who took the lead, while Gin - the only one who's warm enough, decided to stay furthest behind.
"I still think it's a bad idea, what if it's dangerous?" The Rockruff asked, hoping they will simply turn back and exit this place. Not that they have seen anything worthwhile ever since they entered the chasm.
"Dangerous?" Shin turned around and puffed his chest at the only canine of the group. "Hah! I eat danger for breakfast--!!"
It was then they heard a deep, rumbling growl. The trio turned their head toward the source of the sound and immediately fall into their line of sight was a pair of glowing eyes. Despite the dimmed surrounding, they could still see the large fangs between those curled lips of the large feline pokemon.
"R- RUN!!!"
Without a second thought, the trio turned and tried to dash back toward the entrance, but they could only get as fast and as far their little paws could carry them across; with a single leap the chasm cat had blocked their only escape route and roared, swinging its large, heavy paw at the trio trespassers.
They skidded to stop at the sight of the paw swinging toward them, screeching and shutting their eyes in reflex as they braced themselves for impact.
They waited and waited, seconds went by and neither of them felt anything. No pain on their own body, nor heard any of their friends were screaming in pain. With cautious, they slowly peek an eye open...
"...Are we dead?"
"No, we are... home...??" Ban muttered, blinking as he glanced around the familiar surrounding - their home ranch.
"Care to explain?"
The trio almost jumped out of their skin with the calm female voice coming from behind them, especially for Shin who immediately recognize that voice; his aunt's voice. Slowly turning their head around, the could only give a sheepish smile of feigned innocent toward Royal standing behind them. Her head held high and her trademark Spiritomb-grin is nowhere to be seen - a clear sign that Royal is pissed or annoyed. Slightly further behind the Liepard was Teiou who happily waving at the trio, innocently welcoming them back home.
"But... how?" Gin asked. He knew they were in trouble, but he didn't expect they were brought home at such perfect timing.
"Teiou told me he sensed you kids are in distress, in panicked," Royal continues, "You think I'll let you go just like that earlier? I had Teiou sensing your every movement - both physically and mentally, and he'll let me know whenever you guys are into trouble..."
"Oh..." They should have known Royal wouldn't let them wander out of the ranch that far without someone 'supervising' them.
"Now, can you kids tell me what did you meant by 'dead' earlier?"
"I'll explain..." Ban stepped forward after the trio exchange look toward each other, true Teiou couldn't actually 'see' what they were doing but they simply know they couldn't get away with lies this time, especially not with Teiou around.
"--and then, as you have known, we were brought back home."
"What will happen to that monster?" Shin spoke up after a long silence.
"Who knows?" His two friends shrugged.
"The seal of the entrance was already broken when we arrived there..." Gin added, "...what will happen if it escaped from the chasm?"
"It might wander into the city...!!"
"Oh no, didn't they say it's a man-eating monster??"
"We... we should do something!!"
"You boys are not going anywhere!" Royal stepped forward, blocking their line of sight toward Teiou, the only Pokemon in the ranch who was capable of bringing any of them back to the forbidden site.
"But-"
"No buts!" She added, her tails lashed in sync with her strict tone.
"Well..." Teiou spoke up, earning their attention. "If you can tell me what the chasm cat looks like, I might be able to help calm it down?"
"Really!??" The trio asked.
"Of course!" Teiou giggled, "Can't be harder than putting Hisei back to sleep after his slumber was disturbed, right?"
Royal shivers at the reminder of what had happened back in their previous ranch that one time, when a couple of stray Pokemon decided to slap their master awake for no apparent reason.
"It's big!!" "Large, sharp fangs!!" "Stocky forelegs!" "Scary!" "Red glowing eyes!" "Ice crystals!!" "Hairy!" "And stinky!!" "And oh boy ain't it ugly!!"
"Boys, please, one at a time!" Royal reminds them, slightly shaking her head at the boys who yelped out the monster's outer appearance all at the same time.
"I think I somewhat get the image of it," Teiou nodded, and with another hand wave, he was instantly gone from their sight.
"Are you sure Teiou will be okay?" They looked up at Royal. Sure Mewtwo is a strong legendary Pokemon, but they are still worried about him and that chasm cat was highly hostile.
"If he could tame master Hisei, then there's nothing in this world that could beat Teiou!" Royal said, her trademark smirk returned to her face.
The trio stares at her. Being a Pokemon born in the ranch not belonging to Hisei, they had no idea who this man those of older generations refer as 'Master'... had to admit it indeed perked their curiosity though. The two young felines secretly and silently exchange another look toward each other behind Royal's back, planning to go sneak out and see that man named 'Hisei' some other day. Gin who perfectly knows what they are planning just by a glimpse, could only face-paw himself with a sigh. At the same moment, Teiou re-appears back in front of them.
"How is it?" Royal asked. Judging from Teiou's usual happy-go-lucky expression, she was confident it must have gone well without needing to wait for the answer, she simply asked him to satisfied the boys' curiosity.
"Sleep and snore like a big kitty it is!" Teiou giggled, giving them a thumbs-up with his 3-digits fingers, earning an awe from the trio.
