Description
part 1 || part 2
When their trainers were out of their sight, Royal confidently trotted back to where her relatives were waiting. Her son Noble ran to her to nuzzle and greet her. Nero sighed for various reasons and Core felt like his body has just been released from gripping invisible chains as well.
"Daddy, are we losing?" His daughter tucked at his foreleg when she sensed Core has calmed down. The ghostly Houndoom looked at his daughter, then toward the scores displayed on the big screen which shows the current score for each participating teams lives.
"No worry, we don't know yet," Core replied with a forced, sheepish smile, nuzzling his small daughter. He simply didn't has the heart to tell Niji the truth, that they were indeed losing. He gave a quick, worried glance toward Royal.
"Wow, don't look at me like that!" Royal scoffed, rolling her eyes away. As much as she might be interested in contests, even Royal herself has to admit she was not a natural-born contest Pokemon. Their previous Master has never interested in a contest; not now, not ever. They were all raised for one purpose - to battle. They were either fighters, guards, or executioners. Natural born warriors; not some pampered, fashion-show models like possibly most of the other contest participants in this hall.
"Well, we might be able to win if we get rid some of the opposing contestants," Royal suggested with her trademark Spiritomb-grin, flashing her claws out while carefully and rhythmically tapping them on the floor with Hone Claws, "Literally."
Kusanagi, their female relative who was visiting the Paradise island alongside Hisei giggled at her remark, indirectly approving her suggestion.
"Really!??" Oblivious to the meaning behind Royal's words, Niji looked up at the female Liepard with hope in her voice.
"No, sweetheart, no, we don't do that, it's just... not fair for the others," Core tucked his pouting daughter close to himself before glared dagger at the female Liepard.
"Yeah... that's not funny, Royal." Nero added with a sigh. Royal herself merely shrugged. Neither of the males was sure whether she was joking or not.
Ashinaga who has been watching them from a top of Nero's head, make a quick slide down the large Tyrantrum's fluffy neck to the back before hopping back down to the floor and merrily skipped away. They watched how the bizarre-looking legged Magikarp waddled himself although they paid him no further heed.
"Hmph, well, I don't need to do anything cause I dare bet that she will do it," Royal jerked her chin toward an Arceus-splice lounging nearby, "No one stands between Llamasa's grooves and her trophy." The said legendary Pokemon gave them a glance with head held high and divine poise, causing the males to subconsciously flinched from the stare alone.
"You boys sure are jumpy..." Royal couldn't help but groan at her scaredy-cat relatives. "Don't be like them, my son!" She said as she nuzzled her boy.
"I won't, mommy!" He happily barked, wagging his flaming tail, lovingly rubbing himself onto Royal's fur. The mother nudged back, purring about how a good boy he is.
"Anyway," Royal continues, flicking her split-tail to get her relatives' attention back to her, "We should at least prove ourselves while our Master was here."
"How can you be so confident that he will be staying to watch the contest?" Core questioned her back. They all know who she meant just from her referring the man as 'Master', after all, they never refer Seiba as such.
"I've charmed him," Royal replied with a grin, "He'll stay - at least until my turn ends!"
"I still can't believe you pull that kind of stunt at him," Nero's paw was over his mane-covered chest as he breathed out a sigh.
"Excuse you, I was chosen as the heir-in-line by our grandfather-" Royal immediately turned to face Core, "-your father, for a reason!" She puffed her chest up as she boasts her ego against her relatives with an eerie grin. The older males simply rolled their eyes away in response.
An announcement of the contest will be starting soon could be heard echoing from the loudspeakers throughout the hall, requesting the trainer and their respective Pokemon to be on standby, to be ready to perform whenever their name was called.
"Get ready guys, our trainer should be waiting for you at the backstage!" Nero said, waving his large paw at his ranchmates who will be participating in the contest.
"We are always ready, right, little one?" Royal turned to the young Pokemon who eagerly nodded.
"Good luck, and have fun!" Core gave his daughter another nuzzle, "And... don't listen to everything Royal said..."
Niji looked at her father with a somewhat confused face but nodded nonetheless. Royal snorted a chuckle of amusement at Core's remark before she calls for the young Pokemon and makes her way through the sea of people. The young Pokemon stick close to the Liepard's legs as they moved toward the backstage where their trainer supposed to be waiting.
"Break a leg!!" Kusanagi barked a support toward her relatives who will be participating, and for some reason, both Nero and Core could sense she said it with literal meaning, although they dare not to confirm it from the female Arcanine.
Now only three of them left as they wait for their ranch-mates to perform on the stage. Kusanagi studies her giant cousin, eyeing him from head to toes.
"...What?" Nero asked hesitantly, uneasy with how his cousin stares at him like that.
"So, what does it feels like? Being the first Pokemon from grandfather's pack to mega-evolve?" The female Arcanine asked with a grin. Core looked up at him too, possibly wondering the same. The Tyrantrum wasn't sure with how he should reply to her.
"Do you like that ol' guy that much?" She questioned him again.
"Well, he's nice...?" Nero answer was unconvincing and Kusanagi squinted at him. "I don't know, but he was calming to be with, I suppose?"
"Like how you feel calmer and relax despite Master is around?" She teasingly poked at him. "Lucky you for having a trainer like him!"
"I guess...?" Nero shrugged. His gaze went to the floor then, there was something in his mind although he wasn't sure whether he wanted to know the answer to the question he has.
"How's... grandfather?" Nero eventually opened his mouth and Kusanagi looked at him from the unexpected change of topic, "You know, after what happened...?"
"Not good, if you ask me," Kusanagi scoffed. "He now prefers to stay indoors rather than with the pack. Prefers to be with Master despite his fear of him, can you even believed that?" She mockingly snorted, waving her paw uncaringly.
"He what...?" It was clear that both of the males were surprised by the news. Especially for Core, who has always believed his father Prix as a strong, fearless leader.
"Can't face the others after what happened, if I have to guess."
"What happened to the others then...?"
"Nothing much ever since, Dance was also the de facto leader of the pack for now." Kusanagi shrugged, "Well, she is his chosen heir after all, not surprising if she claimed the throne now that ol' grand-daddy turned meek."
Silence quickly fell between them. Neither knows what they should say to one another except quietly watch the starting contest happening on the stage. Everything went by as expected, Pokemon performing on stage, crowds cheering, and so on. And as predicted by Royal, Hisei and Hideki were seen approaching them once the said Liepard performance has ended. Nero stiffens again and Core stick close to the side of his large relative in hope that would shield him from Hisei's view. Kusanagi, unfazed by the approaching man, simply welcomed them with a slow tail wag.
"Let Seiba knows we'll be waiting outside." He commanded and the Pokemon nodded.
"Is he gone...?" Core asked, almost a whisper as he poked his head out from behind Nero's large build not long after.
"In all seriousness, what's so scary about him?" The Arcanine looked at them, pity in her eyes.
Nero and Core exchange look, they weren't sure why they were terrified of him, it has been like that as far and as long as they could remember. They were convinced they just do, from the moment they were born.
"...You boys are pathetic!"
Not before long, Seiba eventually returned to Nero's side after all of his Pokemon had gotten their turn and performed on the stage. The old trainer asked the Pokemon whether they have seen Hisei and his brother. Kusanagi barked and rose to her feet, tail wagging and doing a light, happy skips around the man, gesturing to the human to follow her.
"Alright, in a moment," he chuckled then turned to face Nero, "Can you take care of the kids? Get them to home safely while I accompany the two brothers for the rest of the day?"
Nero nodded and Seiba smiled at the large Tyrantrum, giving him a gentle pat and a soft 'thank you' before following Kusanagi toward the large double door leading outside.
Royal, her son Noble, and Niji soon returned to their side, followed by a bunch of Mimikyu, as they wait for the remaining ranch-mates to return to Nero's side, they vaguely hear a distinguished roar coming from outside the hall.
"Mommy, did... you... hear that?" Noble asked, his ears twitched as he worryingly looked up at the ceiling.
"Yeah... that roar sounds familiar-" Before Royal was able to properly finish her own sentence, a colossal Pokemon crashed into the hall from the dome rooftop. The gigantic Ultra-Necrozma shone like a mini sun as he descends down from the sky, and every flap of his wings blown away anything that's light enough. Shiki screeched at the crowd below with an ear-splitting, high-pitched Hyper Voice, sending the crowd into a hysteria as they run away from the falling debris; believing there was another UB attack on the island.
"Shiki!!!?" Those who were ranch-mates with the shining-bright Pokemon shouted, a various level of panic in their voice. They have no idea how or why the usually quiet Shiki came crashing into the hall, not until they spot a small Pokemon poked itself out between Shiki's thick mane. "Ashinaga?!!"
The Magikarp-splice happily looked down at them when he heard his name being called and excitedly jumped up and down on Shiki's mane. Ashinaga has gone all the way back to the ranch by himself, all just to fetch Shiki.
"What... NO!! You can't destroy the hall just because neither of us wins!" Nero yelled although it falls on deaf ears as Ashinaga seemed to unable to hear him... or choose to not to listen to him, who knows. "Oh Arceus, what should we do?" The Tyrantrum turned toward Royal, wasn't sure what to do especially now that the Mimikyu bundled between his large feet for protection from the crumbling debris and the stampeding crowds.
"Be glad that neither of us belongs to Master Hisei now?" The Liepard snickered despite the situation they were in, her son tucked close to her, "I could practically hear Seiba complained about how he's too old for this even though he's not here with us."
Nero sharply glared at her, couldn't believe what he just heard, couldn't believe that she would joke at times like this.
"Daddy, I'm scared..." Niji trembled at the unfolding chaos and tucked herself between her father's legs.
"No worry, daddy's here!" Core assured his daughter, vowed to himself he would Protect her with his own body, he'll do anything for her safety.
As people and Pokemon scrambled about in panic, they spot a glimpse of a majestic, white Pokemon made her way back up the stage and stood in the middle of it as if she owned the place. To everyone's surprise, it was Llamasa. The Arceus throws her head to the side and stomped her hooves on the stage, boosting her strength up with Sword Dance. She whirled around to repositioned herself then reared up, a powerful energy could be seen forming in front of her forehead - a Hyper Beam - immediately shot out, blasting straight toward Shiki, sending the colossal dragon, as well as the legged Magikarp, back out through the broken rooftop until it was gone from their sight. The legendary Pokemon snorted, satisfied for driving the nuisance Pokemon (aka Ashinaga) away.
Nero breathed out a tired sigh of relief, somewhat glad that Ashinaga - through (the unfortunate) Shiki - only destroyed the ceiling and nothing more. Grateful that no one was hurt, otherwise he would not know how to face their trainer later. Nero also thanks Llamasa for her help, who simply held her head high in pride. An attitude one would expect from Arceus.
"What should we say or do if the officials came to us or Seiba about this?" Core asked as he stares up at the sunset sky through the broken ceiling.
"...Just say it's part of Llmasa's performance," Royal shrugged, "She's an Arceus, no one will dare to questions her." The Pokemon exchange looks and nodded in unison albeit reluctantly. "Rest in peace, Shiki..." she murmured then. The Hyper Beam probably won't hurt the giant badly, yet she still felt sorry for Shiki who must have been unknowingly being dragged into this by Ashinaga. Such unfortunate collateral damage...
