Aah, it has been a while since I have drawn a group picture with several characters in one. Well, it sure took a long time!!This time, I decided to draw Touhou midbosses and them having fun or just being absolutely silly. Originally, it is a doodle, but a few fixes here and there made it become more developed that I expected.
Anyways, my very first day in university starts next week. It's going to be back to school again, I guess. Mmm... I might has well draw as much as I can before I start getting busy with education.

Man, I've been trying to do something like this but the thought of going through all the layers of each characters just brings me goosebumps... ;_;

I understand what you mean about that. I used SAI and I maxed out all my layers. I had to merge various layers that aren't as important, just so I can do my background. Aiiee....

Drawing group pictures makes the setting much much more livelier. It's almost as if you are drawing a story.

It's almost spring time!!! I must say you love drawing more than one character on a page; I used to do that but I got lazy and stick to 1-2 now
I also notice that you're using a different coloring technique with different tools and utilization of those tools so definitely kudos to you, cuz I know full well that using different coloring techniques is both fun but suspenseful since you don't know how it'll fully look like until the end!! Lastly, really nice work on those shadows from the girls being correctly done. It's simple but I find its easy to do wrong on the SAI for some reason (or maybe that's just me

Drawing more characters in one canvas always make things more livelier. Of course, there is also nothing wrong with drawing less and making them look pretty.
Experimental stuff. I'm used the marker to colour majority of the picture aside from the base colouring. I like the results, however, I find that using one tool to colour isn't the way to go if I want to get better.

GJ Masa~! I love how the sky and clouds look, and so much details in the background/picture in general!
If anything, Tojiko's and Shizuha's heads look maybe a little bit too flat/thin (?) even with the perspective thing.
Maybe they could be a bit more round~

Ooh, thanks, Windy~ I would say your criticism is written out well - it didn't hurt to read since it had a balance of good and bad; and I was interested when you spotted mistakes. It's comments like yours that I usually hope to get.
Yeep, I would have to agree. I'd also add to the point that Tojiko's bucket hat looks 2D, if you analytically look at it's placement on her head. Only the shading tricks the viewers at first glance.
It's definitely my lack of practice in drawing from that very angle. Yet again, thank you so much!!

Well, I don't really see how the characters are stuck into the background.. the shadows look pretty natural, and they all look like they're having a fine time at the beautiful scenery~ (I'm guessing that those are sakura trees?)
