It was a reference to a character named Jay from jay and silent bob, he wears a beanie a lot and has long blonde hair, just reminded me of that.

One time when I was out with my brother at the local garage some girls did shout hey, it's jay and silent bob.... My brother looks more like bob than I look like jay, but the fact we were leaning against the wall listening to music ( we were waiting for a friend, not something we always did) made it funnier
