There was some weird mouth animation going on in this scene and with Miss Harshwhinny. Can't remember if they've actually used it before.

Someone spent time to give Harshwhinney's mouth a lot more movement than any other pony before, but it helped to create needed expressions during the various scenes.
And what's nice is, according to what Sibsy said once, once these expressions are done for one pony, it becomes a "toolbox" for them to apply to any other pony, so it expands the facial repertoire they can use.

It was very expressive, I'll admit that. It was just surprising to see it after being used to three seasons of similar animation techniques. I have to give them major kudos.

Did Rainbow Dash drink an energy drink and down a whole bunch of candy? Because she was REALLY hyper in this episode. She's still awesome though.
I think this face is my personal favourite face of the episode. It's very Rainbow Dash. I love it!
