Description
EOS 60D | EF-S 10-22 @10 | 60s | f/8 | ISO 100 | Lee 0.9 HE GND | Lee Big StopperAs a long day of driving and our search for penguins out in the wild neared its end, we found ourselves at a place called Curio Bay. The south of New Zealand had some interesting surprises, from rolling pastures, to hidden jungles, and finally to this petrified forest partially submerged in the Pacific Ocean.
My dad went off to wait for the penguins to come ashore (they did) and I went back up the side of the cliff to try and capture some interesting landscapes with the fading light of the day. A very bright rainbow finally caught my eye and drew me back down to the beach.
I was greeted with some wonderful pastel colors in the sky, but unsure about what I wanted to capture, I wandered for a few minutes before finding this large green patch of moss. I set up my tripod and camera and decided to reach for the big stopper to blur and freeze the motion of the sky and water.
Enjoy!
Update 7-15-2013: Updated image with a reprocessed version. Edited with my current process. Compared to the previous version, brighter, a bit more vibrant, and some of the low frequency noise (banding) was better handled for a cleaner image.

Thanks! And it absolutely was. If it wasnt so incredibly far away, I would be visiting this place and the whole country as often as possible.

Marvellous shot. The colours are extraordinary, and the water on the ground seems to take the shape of pieces of a broken mirror. Wonderful focus, too... it's so clear and sharp. A cold, nice effect.
