Description So I've been working over the last year on realistic skin system for octane render
I'm nearing completion of this now, and I finally implemented a reasonable hair system
for any poser character. or DAZ character in octane render is basically a shader
this will work with any hairstyle very little interaction from the user
anyway this is just some samples watch this space

I think his face is one of the most realistic renders I've seen here. Well done!

The skin diffuse texture is really excellent, and your material looks great !

Well, although this looks very nice, I'm not sure if it would work as well on a DAZ3D-based figure.
This is obviously a 3D-scan of an actual person, which is why it looks so good.

Try showing that same shader on a DAZ3D character, if you can retain the same quality, I'm impressed
They usually have much lower texture detail as this does, and therefore will already look not as good, because of that fact alone.

What I also noticed, is that the eyes look rather dull and lifeless - must be something with the specular levels there.
Also this looks very much like the newest tonysculptor material...
LuxXeon already mentioned the SSS scale not being right.

Again: Nothing personal, just my thought's about the "product" in general, since you're advertisting it specifically for DAZ3D characters.

Actually does work very well on does DAZ characters  absolutely no reason for it not to.

The reason the majority of poser characters don't look photo realistic.  Is quite simple
is down to the vendor's and the texture maps.  And lighting

We successfully taken scan imported the texture maps into a Genesis 2 character female and male

And it works just as well.

Yes,eyes are very lifeless because I did absolutely nothing with them as I was in a bit of a rush

as for tonysculptor material. i don't  use it never been able to get it working all the SSS material.
are the same. just change a litte for the different settings.

It doesn't matter what shader you use, if you use rubbish texture maps etc. then you're going to get rubbish results.
Majority daz characters don't have, texture capability of realism to produce a good photographic render.
This probably only two vendor's that I know off .I class as decent.

You have the same problem with redspec you use your shader on not a very good vendor or bad texture on the model
and the results are poor. (We both know this)
Majority of the time you fine.

This is the only real way that you're ever going to get better renders by using photographic reference material.
I said this to red at the very start of octane when he was developing the shaders.
This is the only way you are going to get it

I never mentioned that the quality of how good a render looks, never comes down to the quality of textures you are using, as the matter of fact, I'm absolutely with you on this one.
Your shader will only look so good as the quality of the base you are using.

Wow that looks fantastic under HDRi lighting!
Is that going to be a product or we can find it in database?

This is a very good realistic render.  Good SSS, and near perfect specularity.  I think in some cases, precision specularity and bump details are even more important to realistic skin than SSS.  I think the SSS needs a little more power on the ears.  They are quite dark, considering most of the light is from behind, you would expect a lot of backscatter in the thin areas of the ears.
