To be fair, Thunderclap wasn't a particularly accreate representation of Nyctosaurus, let alone typical pteradactyls baring the pterasaur family that DO consume non-fish creatures.

True, but it could be possible that fish going pterosaurs would also prey on other small animals. Like baby dinosaurs, lizards, and mammals. Sure they could've been more accurate with Quetzalcoatlus and it's relatives, but mostΒ of them almost look the same. I can see why they used Nyctosaurus because it has a distinctive looking crest. Though in the concept art on the Pixar website, he was originally a Ornithocheirus or a Tropeognathus.
