I'm dealing with that same problem. Also has anyone tried drawing themselves by using their character pics from the Cartoon Creator? Or just me?

Guess it's just you at the moment, since on my side I stick with traditional. Simple simple, I guess.

Well, my friend, I have the same situation. But Maestro can be impressed with pencil art too! That's what I always send him! Pencil art!

Should I either use a new layer or a new linework layer? What's the difference?

Mast3r-Rainb0w In reply to Hyperlight-iPod [2018-01-31 17:52:20 +0000 UTC]
Personally, I never use "New Linework Layer", but the difference is that you can fiddle with certain curves and whatnot in this layer without having to draw them manually.

Oh yeah, speaking of curves, how the hell do you do that?
I apologize for my language btw.
Maybe I'm not using the exact same version of PaintTool Sai as you're using or what? I tried exactly what your tutorial said.
I mean like take a look at both of my attempts, I was unable to use "New Layer". Maybe I need to try again?

I usually start off with 1000x1000 pixels, but you can always make it larger if you need more drawing space, of course.

I've always ALWAYS wanted to get past these stage and at least learn how to freehand as of now since yeah vectors based on stuff from the show is what I do. Usually they're supposed to be exact copies from the show as free resources (that's the point of vectors) but it's the original character ones and such that I needed to freehand past through.
Here I am, unable to even handle a goddamn pencil without going rough. In other words, I simply can't make a smooth line when I draw, it always gets rough and jittery. I do have a tablet though it's out of my reach for the next month or so from now.
But this should be very helpful... but it isn't at the moment. But it can be. Very much CAN BE if I ever get myself to practice. The hell is even with me, I always wonder.

if you've seen the loud family artwork on theloudhouse.wikia.com, you'll see a gif of the loud siblings in different colors. like lola being pink for example. here's the picture if you're curious: vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/th…

I'm sure Luan would've said something along the lines of...
Wow, even I can't find any drawbacks to making art this good.
Anyway, this is a fantastic introduction guide you've constructed.
It's already looking to have helped a number of aspiring artist get started.
You certainly know your stuff when it pertains to drawing content with The Loud House style.

One question, even if I can't trace straight lines, I still can do it?

Mast3r-Rainb0w In reply to franciscoa51 [2017-09-06 02:59:26 +0000 UTC]
Honestly, I don't see how tracing straight lines is all that hard.
Think about it. If you can write the letters "I" and "L", then you should be fine. You can also draw in the form of short strokes, if it helps.

Perhaps when it comes to the tracing, but understanding the lineart for ANY artstyle requires deep insight, intuition, and observation on your part.

So like observing the width of the lines? I use Sketchbook Pro and that allows me to change the width of those lines?
Will Sketchbook Pro work as well as what you use?
