Description
This is a rabbit boxing with a rat. I wrote a more interesting comment on Furaffinity, but I never bother to do so on DA because nobody on DA ever says anything interesting. Ever.Related content

Based on your commentary over time, it seems that you like your rodents (and lagomorphs) to be lean and muscular.

Well, I rather like how you give them some body-tone...

Yeah, that's true... I mean, even my principle ferret-character isn't extreme. He's buff, but that would only be visible if he took his shirt off (biceps and sixpack) - otherwise, you'd only tell by feats of strength and barrel-like chest... to look at, he just seems your average sleek flexible ferret. You'd never believe he could pin his older foster-brother (a burly fat otter) to the ground) in a playfight.

Most anthro characters are drawn as muscular and visually "perfect" probably because many furries are self loathing (as they should be)individuals and are peddling out a shallow vision of an idealized version of what they want to be. But I tire of overly muscular characters and I especially dislike when they do it on smaller creatures such as rodents, like with all the Biker Mice from Mars fan art. I don't think rodents have to be portrayed as weak all the time, but the fact is that they are indeed smaller and really don't adhere to the personality of a character that's obsessed with being huge.
My squirrels are the rodents I most often portray with some muscle tone and that is to elude to the fact that they are physically active creatures, and a full-body activity like climbing would leave them in shape, but wouldn't necessarily give them explosive muscle mass. Plus, call me a traditionalist, but I think rodents should maintain at least some of the "cute" appeal. The characters above are designed to be life-long fighters so I give them a little more mass but it still doesn't compare to the exaggerated norm of muscular anthros.

As for me, I tried to just give them varying personalities.
But I guess I see parts of myself in all my own characters... for example:
Danbuster the hare has my eccentricity and imagination, turned up a notch. He's also my closest thing to a fursona, so he has most of my physical traits like being tall and thin with gawky limbs.
Frederick the ferret has my sensible side and easygoing nature to counterbalance his crazy hare friend.
Spencer the rat has my nervous and lazy traits.

I don't tend to draw reoccurring characters, many of them are one-time only, although many of the squirrels share similar features or looks (Jeans, no shirt, somewhat effeminate). I can't say its the same for me, putting my traits into characters, because I want myself as far away from my fantasy world as possible. I have a character in a story I wrote who shares my cynicism, but in a 1st-person format it's hard to keep that from happening. While the personalities of my drawn characters aren't specified on a character-to-character to basis, I do try to capture the differences in their species to some degree, which is based on my own idea of what each species represents. The mice look shy, the squirrels look energetic, and the rats look isolated.

Guess it's just how they developed... still, I'm largely influenced by cartoons - I want to create my own world and ideology... such a messed up REAL world we live in...
