Description
As said I was gonna render it better so here it is. I don't know if I'm going to improve on it a lot. Maybe I'll find a good HDRI tutorial one day and try that. And here is the story behind it which you also read at WIP2.
The blade ingravement says: "The holder of this sword will be condemned for saving the one you love comes with a price"
The 6 edges spell out the letters: "LOVEIS" and below: "PRISON"
These 2 sentences state that whoever holds the sword, and has it in his or her (doesn't say it has to be a he) possession will be condemned *go figure*. But the sword has a trick too. It can only be seen and helt by the person that is almost dead - halfway into the other world - Γ‘nd desperately wants to save the one closes to that persons heart.
The tragedy of this love is that the person that saves the love of their life will be condemned for ever and will be neither alive or dead. it will be inprisoned my the love.
Some extra storytelling done by h3adrush (I liked it a lot so I'm just gonna add it here too)
person desperately wishes to save person2 from a fate much worse than death. sword calls to him in his mind. he focuses all his energy into summoning the sword from its resting realm. sword embues user with immense power, which enables user to save person2.
however, as a result, user's soul/essence becomes trapped inside the sword for eternity, thus increasing its power. as time goes on, the sword becomes more and more powerful as more souls are trapped within. soon, only those with tremendous ability can weild it, and pretty soon, it becomes only a legend, since no one living is powerful enough to be able to hold or see it.
until...

I really like the engraving, the sword itself is a bit extravagant for my taste, but fabled blades rarely look normal in fiction these days lol.
I gotta ask, how did you make the blades texture? its really really nice.

hehe thnx it's actually a font that I extrude with a modifier, so it's not a normal map or texture or anything, real vertices..yeah it's pretty heavy for the shadows and stuff, but it's worth it

ooh well for starters it's a Vray material
if you wanna know: reflect on a somewhat dark grey, Glossiness 0.8, subdivs 20, fresnel reflections off.
that's basically it

hmm did u use bump maping for the texture to make the disign look 3d on the blade

hehe no it's actually just real 3D objects, and with the vray settings on highest you get the nicest detailed shadows

actually... random deviation. i do that every so often. you can find some pretty cool stuff. like, for instance, your sword. ^_^

Nice idea, but the handle looks to short and the blade too wide. It would be kind of unweildly.
nevertheless its a very nice design

I'd like to see some more work on the handle. Other than that it's looking fine

Cool idea, the sword looks way to heavy to use though. Putting some form of weight on the hilt would help make it look 'balanced' and a bit more usable...

I really really love the design of the blade, the main shape and all the little details too. The whole story behind it is also intriguing.
I know someone already mentioned the handle, but I think modifying the handle to balance out the blade some and just in general making it look as cool as the blade would make this thing a truly awesome weapon to behold
I love ridiculously ornate and/or oversized weapons

I agree with the comment on the handle, but I don't think that's the main focal point of this image.
The blades are very well made and so are the decals on them, I can't tell if they're bump maps or separate models, so that's a good thing
I love it so far, hope to see a shiny version soon!
