Description

My contest entry for C-E-Smith 's contest! (late as usual, LOL)

Dieter and Erich are 'to the rescue' in this close call escape! I decided to do page 15 because of..... EXPLOSIONS!!! (I didn't mean to choose an old one though. LOL) Hope you (and the judges) like it! XD

Good thing no one was close to that explosion or else it might had ended badly. Love all the details and lighting effects in this

Yeah, good thing they made a fast get away! The explosion was pretty tricky, but I think it turned out nicely.

WOW! you tricked me! You led me to believe you were gonna draw Clovis getting "stabby stabby." That would have hurt my heartΒ  Β Β I'm glad you chose this page! I was hoping someone would do an old one!!!Β

I think one of my favorite things about this redraw is Dieter's appearance. Very serious expressions. He knows this is dangerous. He looks more hardened here instead of looking like a "fresh" soldier.

I also love how Erich looks, you can tell how young he is! And Poor Hans! Even though he's hurt bad he still looks good in your style LOL!!! Β

the composition is so nice and I love the Petroleum spilling out, that's a really nice addition. And this isn't late! It's right on time! haha! Thank you for participating, I'm sure the judges will love it

I'm glad you like it! I don't think I could bring myself to draw the "stabby stabby" bit. LOL

You're right about Dieter, now I can kind of see that too. It's hard to get expression lines on the face and have them not look like "rugged aged lines" Perhaps lightening them would've been a good idea. Β

Yeah, when it came to Erich I knew I'd have to make him look super young. (even his coat is a little too big for him! He snuck into the wrong war. LOL)

Thanks a lot! The composition was fun to work on, I think it turned out pretty good.

No no! I said I liked that you made him look older. He understands the danger involved, he should look hardened here- just like you drew it. It's perfect

oh okay, cool! It's dangerous for sure... not exactly the place you'd want an underage medic kid trying to help you. LOL

Excellent! Reminiscent of a scene in "1917." Interesting that this original piece published in 2017....Β Β

I love the facial expressions!

Superb aircraft explosions.

Ha! That's a funny coincidence. Hopefully this pilot rescue will go better than the one in the film. (which speaking of 1917, did you get a chance to see it?)

Yes! It finally made it to within 50 miles; we saw it 2 wks ago.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Heartbreaking,

The movie was jaw dropping from start to finish... I wasn't prepared for it. I've never seen "no man's land" represented so accurately.

And the war was fought by children. They were babies. Motion pictures like 1917 need to be produced to remind people what a horrible thing it is to send someone else's child to war.

I know. The serving age was very young. Most war films cast already famous actors so they tend to have a rugged manly appearance.... in this one they really looked like boys.
