Ah yes, the first colonial period. Yet another favourite era, though the Redwall touch is a bit interesting to say the least. Nice picture.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite periods. (pertaining to my countries history.) I have this sort of satirical story were all the characters are different animals... so this is from that.

I too love those centuries, though my country's history doesn't really give chance to enjoy it much. Aside two war for independence that was drowned in to blood by Austrians and Russians, this period wasn't as adventurous for hungarians as it was for the colonists.
As for the animals, well that sheds a new light on it. Though all in all, I say it's interesting in a good way, especially how anthromorphic characters fare these days, I say this is a refreshing variation.

I sort of run into the same problem, It's natural for us to be most interested in our own country's history but before the 1500's America wasn't even discovered! Lol So for me it's all world history before that. The first colonial period always stood out to me because of the mysteriousness of the whole thing and it's danger.
I don't care for the whole modern "furry" spin on anthropomorphic characters... I guess mine are a little bit more old school. And thanks for the complement!

Well, while it's subjective, I do believe that before the 16th century the world wasn't that much of an interesting place. People fighting over land in the name of everything. The early colonial period wasn't much better, but it did had that mistery that a new world can and has that fresh start-over feeling to it.
Yes, the old scool is way better. But that applies to most things. Don't mention it.

I dare say, ancient history has caught my eye a couple of times, just something about the massive empires and the fact that it is indeed "ancient" seemed interesting to me. Medieval history does get a little more boring... just seemed like humanity was stuck in a rut. Lol
The World Wars are such a great subject to study just because the effects of the outcome are still being felt today in a way.

Well, ancinent times are a bit better than medieval, but it's still a let down for me. I mean, if you take Greece and Rome out of the picture, there are little to talk about. Maybe the really ancient times are interesting when civilization itself was born. However yeah, medieval times are boring as it can be.
Well, I mostly like the second World War. The first was basicly a glorified medieval conflict that really got boring early on (no disrespect to the memories of their fallen of course). The second one however is much more interesting. The things that lead up to it, the ideologies and the whole era of ideals and masses, all the possible outcomes, the distinct civilizations at strougle. WW1 is just a deadly game of pong compared to WW2.

The thing I find cool about WWI is how it influenced the people behind WWII. It played an important role in the re-shaping of politics, just the fact that it was practically the end of four massive empires is so amazing. I also like how it forced military technology to advance... but WWI without WWII in the picture is indeed boring, and the fighting tactics were indeed senseless compared to the second World War.

Yeah, but that's really the Interwar period, which I too find more interesting. The only interesting part of WWI is it's ending, when the old world died and a new was about to break out from it's carcass. Still, that's really part of the Interwar period not WWI's. WWI just hit a reset switch for a terrible prize.
As for the advancement of military technology. Yeah that's interesting a little a bit, but more in an odd way, just to be fascinated of the primitiveness of the early technologies, not fascinated in a admirable way. Like the Tsar Tank.
