i can see them going on double dates strider/vantas with sufferer and bro staring at them and wondering how the fuck did this even happen.
possibly kankri would be less annoying because he's mellowed thanks to his own relationship, or even more annoying simply because now he wants to make sure dave and kat are proceeding in a coherent, calm and consensual way... hmmm

i'm not a dirkkat shipper myself, as i dig davekat, but this brings me to double dates davekat and dirkkri with sufferer and bro looking awkwardly at them and each other and wondering how the fuck did it happen

I can definitely see the Sufferer and Bro being at a loss for words. Especially since they are always both so eloquent
DaveKat is actually my OTP, (You can tell by my signature) but since that was looking less and less feasible I wondered about DirkKat, and I thought,"Maybe." Then I experimented with my fanfics and I'm like, "yeah, this is a ship I can support. If DaveKat sails I'm jumping ship, but at least for now I won't drown."

honestly, id be happier if it doesn't since all sailed pairings have broken up or died or similar (except rosemary, but they still have a lot to talk about regarding rose's alcoholism)
and dirkkat i can't really see that working (if anything i'd consider meenahkarkat, since their canon interaction had her wanting to date him) but as long as you like the ship, and enjoy it, you can sail all on your own.

In my defense I think most combinations of StriderxVantas work rather well. I've since much stranger ones. Much stranger ones. Including ones with Lil' Cal or the scalemates. But to each their own.
(And MeenahKarkat would totally work.)
