Dr. Tyler Vernon (or Vern for short) is a robotic rat scientist who works for Arcanis Labs. Originally a human scientist who volunteered for an experiment to eat nanite infused cheese, which turned him into a robotic rodent no thanks to a prank from Emma , which backfired when he realized he was now literally a lab rat... and loved it. He has since then been willing to volunteer for experiments that normal humans could not do.

Vern is highly intelligent and his body is very versatile, able to resist damage and repair itself with nanites very easily. He uses this ability to perform dangerous experiments, but will easily survive as long as his core remains intact. Despite being a rat, especially a literal lab rat, most of the Arcanis bots get along with him, compared to his co-worker Louie , who is often seen as the obnoxious one of the scientists, but the one who cares for him most is his other fellow scientist co-worker Kaitlin , who is rather nice to him and tends to work with him on most project. Outside of the scientists, his closest friends are Jack and Josiah , who he often plays video games and reads manga with.

In terms of personality, Vern can be quite snarky and sarcastic, he will talk about interesting facts a lot and hates being wrong, as well as getting annoyed when he is interrupted. Don't be surprised if he makes really weird jokes at times.

Vern's arms and tail are very flexible, his nose gets cold and wet like a normal animal nose as part of his cooling system, and his mouth lights up and glows whenever he speaks. Over his eyes are a visor lens that can display information necessary for his experiments or tests.
