Lugnut has absolute faith in Megatron, and that makes him one of the most dangerous but dumbest Decepticons. Despite this, he is fanatic in his support of the Decepticon cause, and unquestioning in following the orders of his commander. his dedication is backed up by incredible strength, and fighting skills that led to him be feared and respected across cybertron. Each punch from his powerful hands carries the force of a small bomb, so the only way to survive a fight with him is to avoid ever letting him hit you. Unfortunately, he's almost as fast as he is strong. Not to mention he is large (4 to 5 times the mass of your average data clerk) and carries an enormous mace that is itself taller than many Transformers. Unfortunately, he's the sort of dense, plodding "semi-intelligent life" (as Megatron puts it) who'll just stand by dumbly without a superior's order to act. This makes Lugnut rather easy to manipulate once he gets over the surprise of actually being talked to. Lugnut seems dimly aware of his own nature, and will generally admit to not always remembering things he's been told, even if they were orders from Megatron.

So when I first saw this Lugnut design from animated, I was like, "WOW. That guy looks menacing...", and still is with that Cycloptic eye of his. So the designs are fused to create the DEFINITIVE version of Lugnut is fusing the designs of both of these are the 100% Animated look and the 100% Reveal the Shield look. Plus, I also thought of having him be that DUMB lug that always misses his targets and being blinded in furial rage at the same time. His Reveal the Shield design will always be my favorite when it comes to design choices.
