Description Chapter 2; To Tackle a Tailow

"Wait, Matt, Don't run off alone!" yelled Dani. But it was no use. Matt was already long gone.
Matt stepped into the woods. The trees blocked out the sun immediately, causing the woods to look dark. Matt hiked in with Torchic on his shoulder. He could hear the pokemon in the woods, but couldn't see any.
"What do you think, Torchic?" There was a rustle in a nearby bush. Torchic jumped off of Matt's shoulder. He sniffed at the bush.
"Torchic, Torchic," he cheeped, pointing at the bush with his small wing. Then, they heard a growling come from the bush.
"Uh, I'd be careful Torchic." Torchic wandered into the bush, ignoring his trainer's warning. A few seconds later, Torchic ran out of the bush. He was quickly followed by a dark gray dog- like pokemon.
"Poochyena!" it howled. Torchic cowered behind Matt's leg.
"A Poochyena, eh?" Matt took out his new pokedex.
"Poochyena, the Bite Pokemon," The pokedex began. "A pokemon with a persistent nature, it chases its chosen prey until the prey becomes exhausted."
"Come on Torchic, let's capture it!" Torchic, mustering its courage, jumped into battle. "Torchic, use Ember!"
"Torchic, chic, chic!" Torchic's blasts of flame flew towards Poochyena, who dodged them. Poochyena and Torchic locked eyes and began to stare intently at each other. They growled at each other.
"Torchic?" Matt asked, growing concerned. The pokemon continued to growl.
"Poochyena!" the pokemon howled ferociously. Torchic, terrified, ran off into the woods.
"No, Torchic, come back!" Matt yelled, running after him, leaving the Poochyena snickering. Matt ran after Torchic, who, for such a small pokemon, was very fast. Eventually, Matt caught up to him. "Wow, Torchic," he began, out of breath. "We're gonna have to put that speed of yours to good use." Torchic was still shaking from his battle. "Come on Torchic, its okay. Let's go find the others. Which way was it again?" Matt picked up Torchic, and they proceeded to walk out of the woods.

"Dodge it, Piplup!" Sam was fighting against a wild bird pokemon, a Starly. "Now use Peck!"
"Piplup!" he chirped. Piplup's beak glowed white and grew into a sharp point. Piplup pecked the wild Starly, sending it crashing into the ground.
"Now, finish it with Bubblebeam."
"Pip lup lup lup!" The bubbles hit Starly.
"Now, go pokeball!" Sam threw a white and red ball- like object towards Starly. The pokeball opened. It turned Starly into some form of energy, which was then drawn into the ball itself. The ball closed, and began to shake. Sam held his breath. The ball shook once, twice, three times. Finally, the red dot turned white, signifying a successful capture. "Yah, I caught a pokemon!" Sam yelled in triumph.
"Are you done?" Dani asked. Sam starred at her.
"Yah, Im done. Return Piplup." Sam pointed his pokeball at Piplup, recalling his pokemon. "Now what?"
"We have to find Matt," she said. "It's been awhile and he still hasn't come back yet."
"You've gotta learn how to relax, Sis." Sam said. "Matt's probably fine. He's probably a little lost. It's not like we're in a dangerous area."
"I agree with Dani," Nellie added. "It's not like Matt to just leave like this."
"Fine," said Sam. "If you want to get lost in the woods, then be my guest." Nellie and Dani looked at each other, and nodded. They moved back and began walking towards the woods, leaving Sam. "Wait!" he yelled, running after them. "I was kidding."
The group walked through the woods, keeping an eye out for Matt. Sam was straying behind his sisters.
"How are we gonna find him in this place?" asked Nellie.
"I have an idea." Sam said quickly. "Go Starly!"
"Starly!" cried the starling pokemon.
"Starly, I need you to find our friend. He's my size, spiky hair, wearing red." Starly nodded his head and flew off.
"Can we trust that Starly will recognize Matt if he finds him?" Dani asked.
"Im sure we can." Sam said.

"Torchic, use Ember!"
"Torchic chic chic!" The embers hit a pile of wood, igniting them into a fire.
"Well Torchic, if we can't find our way out, we may as well eat something!" Torchic jumped up and down in glee. Matt reached into his backpack and found a container of pokemon food. He poured some out for Torchic when he heard a rustling in the bushes. Torchic stood ready, when a small bird pokemon hopped out of the bush. "Hey, it's a Tailow." Matt took out his pokedex.
"Tailow, the TinySwallow Pokemon. It has a gutsy spirit that makes it bravely take on tough foes. It flies in search of warm climates." The Tailow began to peck at Torchic's food, causing Torchic to get angry.
"Calm yourself, Torchic. We'll get it back. Use Ember!" Torchic shot blasts of flame at Tailow, who easily dodged it. Tailow countered with a Wing Attack. "Torchic, jump and use Ember again!" The blasts of flame hit Tailow this time. "Now finish it with Scratch!" Torchic scratched Tailow with its talon, finishing off the wild Tailow. "Go pokeball!" The ball engulfed Tailow. It shook, and Tailow was captured. "Yah, I caught a Tailow!"
"Torchic!" They both cheered in triumph.
"I have an idea. Go Tailow!" Matt threw the pokeball, calling out Tailow."
"Tailow!" the bird pokemon cried.
"Tailow, I need you to find my friends. Theirs three of them, okay?" Tailow nodded its head and flew off. "What now, Torchic?"
"Torchic?" he chirped back
Matt and Torchic waited at their camp site for what seemed like forever. After awhile, Tailow finally came back, only accompanied by another bird pokemon, a black and grey one.
"Did you find them?" Matt asked. Tailow looked at the other bird pokemon, who nodded.
"Tailow!" The other bird pokemon flew off, and Tailow followed, only close to the ground so Matt could follow.
"Return Torchic!" Matt recalled Torchic, and ran after Tailow. Matt followed Tailow, who was following the other pokemon. After a while, Tailow had led Matt out of the woods, where Sam, Dani, and Nellie were waiting. The other bird pokemon had perched on Sam's arm.
"Sam, he asked. "That pokemon is yours?
"Yep, this is Starly. He helped us find you. He led your Tailow to us."
"We were worried about you Matt," Nellie said.
"I was fine," he said, reassuringly. "Thanks a lot, Tailow. Return!" He recalled Tailow to her pokeball. "Now do you guys wanna head out? We have a lot of ground to cover in the next couple of days."
"I've been thinking, Matt," Sam began. "I think it would be better if I went out on my own. You know, just for a little while."
"That's a great idea!" Matt said. "We could compete against each other. You know, be rivals."
"Great!" he replied.
"Well, if you're going off on your own, then Dani and I are too."
"What are you going to do?" Sam asked them
"We're going to compete in Contests together." Dani said.
…..?
"So that's it then," Sam said after a pause.
"I guess so," Matt added.
