Adobe released Premiere CS2 and After Effects for FREE to download from their site a couple months ago. There ya go!

You can try FL Studio. It's more of a music production software and requires a pretty big learning curve, but it gets the job done very well. After Effects + Vegas are fantastic for the video portion.

Yup. Elements 7, I been using it since late 2010 and I still will. I tried version 10, but one of the features that helped me a bunch in poops was removed, so I'm sticking with this version instead.

How different is Premiere from Vegas Pro? Just curious, if you have any idea at all

Some effects from Vegas are in Premiere and some are not, there's no vector masking, and camera positions are done by moving the footage on the viewing screens and not on another window. It's more powerful than Vegas, but I find easy for me to use.

Well, if you have a powerful enough computer to run programs then I guess. It's useful for sentence mixing and making YTPMVs, the rest of the things I do have to either do in Paint.NET or Sony Vegas.
