EXTRACTION PROJECT

Exo suit equipped soldier. Carrying a Type 95 carbine. The shield here was a last minute idea.

This exoskeleton operates based on current military exo technology and application, factual and conceptual.
It enhances the wearers endurance and carrying ability by basically supporting its own weight (which is quite heavy). There's no actual performance improvement or enhancement to human abilities otherwise.
So it basically operates as an enclosed armor suit for short duration heavy combat and features a tactical vision suite in the helmet (IR, Nightvision, Scope, HUD).
The armor itself will defeat most small arm fire at medium range (5.56 and 7.62).

The design for this unit was inspired by the Tengu suits seen in Metal Gear Solid 2, but later turned to heavier influence from the Hardman Suit from the film Deathmachine, which was itself based on the Hardiman Suit created by General Electric in 1965.

Most of what you see is heavy rubber over a metal and ceramic shell covering a thin "artificial-muscle" chasis. Efficient use of of artifical-muscle technology requires advancement of nanotechnology. The use of previous hydraulic or pneumatic pistons and gears or current electric servos are inefficient for military application.

The suit runs on a set of batteries in the back and legs. This configuration gives the suit a measure of redundancy in the event of battery damage or failure. Moving in the suit without power would be the rough equivalent of driving one handed and having your power steering cut.
