Description

Recently I bought an online animation course on animating 4 legged walks, and needless to say it was worth it! (It was also on sale for 15 dollars at the time so that was an added bonus. )

The main thing I loved about it was he really went into the anatomy as well as how the muscles interacted with the rest of the body while in motion. I've always been mostly a self-taught artist/animator, though taking courses that help with things like anatomy and physics is something I highly recommend (if you can afford it).

He also wanted you to FEEL the latissimus muscle, and it really stuck with me.

While the images are indeed heavily referenced from his first lesson, not a single part of it was traced and I'm extremely happy about that. XD Obviously there are multiple flaws but It's still decent I feel. So I wanted to share.

If you are interested in the course yourself I have a link provided below. Aaron Blaise is a former Disney animator and has experience from movies like The Lion King or Brother Bear, so it's really cool that he provides art tutorials online now. He has some other lessons that would probably be interesting, though for now this is all I could afford.

He also has a dog named Achilles, so he can tell him to "heel", which I thought was a good pun.

Godspeed,

~MO

Ah, not super long I don't feel! Then again, I was following a tutorial and most of my time was spent trying to understand the anatomy of the character. If you follow. ... So yeah, it was longer than 2 hours I'll say that much. XD

That looks great! How long did it take to make this walk cycle?

Let's see... I worked on this for two to three days I think? Granted I want to say I didn't take FULL days, more like a few hours each day. The tutorial itself was two hours long though I would pause a lot to heavily look at the reference. Soooo, about 4-6 hours? I'm not sure to be entirely honest with you. XD
I downloaded the video itself on Feb. 28th though I didn't start working on it until the next day. I kinda took a break then eventually finished it last night, so yeah.

This looks awesome! It's so smooth and you can really see how all of the muscles are working together!
I was just about to suggest Arron Blaise to you.. then I finished reading all of your description xD I've took some courses with him, and he is an excellent teacher for sure!
