Still thinking of when I got told if I'd make a War Callie in reference to me being a Splatoon fan now. Am I...am I that predictable?
Anyway, HAPPY EASTER! Or what's left of it, it's like the next day for me now, I took so long to write this. I don't have any Easter Bunny Girls to show this year, siiiiiiiimply because I've been driving myself mad with stress concerning coursework - coursework I haven't even done. So that's all fine and not at all making me want to die. Nope. No. Not at all. BUT IT'S OKAY, because now I have Callie Splatoon to cheer me up with her wonderful smile and her cheery personality and her trauma from being kidnapped and brainwashed to serve an evil octopus and...
...Huh. Okay. To be honest, I feel like I went a bit too far with the whole "making pretty female suffer to allow comfort scenes" thing with Lilac. Making her deal with the torture properly, that's fine. Confining her to a wheelchair, making her lose her mind or blowing one or more of her limbs off? Less so. Started to worry even myself for a second or two. So if nothing else, I can promise nothing quite that nasty will happen to Cal.
...She's still getting ALL the PTSD, though. That's still a thing.
I really need to draw more than just Sonic or Sonic inspired characters, yo. At least with Cal, it's a start. So, eh. Happy Easter and all. Hope you got all the chocolate you'd ever need. I got one, so I did.

Honestly? Yeah, I'm totally expecting a War Callie. Bet she'll use real guns instead of her squid blood too. Still, some self-awareness should help you out. You clearly do have a thing for the suffering and comfort of pretty girls, judging by how the more tortured souls get the fanart and all that. I mean, is it really fanart? Point is, it's refreshing to see you're honest about what you're into.

I don't want to make a War Callie. I said myself, I went too far into that territory with Lilac. It resulted in gold with Dragon Without Wings, yes, but I feel I went too far. There are Lilacs that are;
=Missing an arm
=Missing a leg and has a wooden pegleg instead
=Blinded
=Wearing an eyepatch
=Broken mentally, obviously
It just feels...wrong. But yet part of me likes it so. Like I struggle to draw Callie and that part of my mind goes "Wouldn't it be cute if she had aΒ prostheticΒ leg?" and I have to shut it up...but not before trying to draw it first anyway. Not like it'd stick as squids can regrow limbs and I picture Callie as the one who wouldn't even care she's missing a leg. But even so, I saw some of the people who faved the first chapter of DWW. And I...don't want to be those people. But yet I enjoy the concept. Perhaps I've gone so far into the Hurt/Comfort genre that I need to make the hurt myself for the comfort to mean anything. And then, what does that say about me? I MEAN I still think I'm at least above some of the absolute worst stuff, like I'd never picture any of those characters drowning for personal enjoyment, Drowned Lilac notwithstanding, but still.
And the worst thing? I already HAVE a concept for War Callie. Backstory, weapons and all.

What that tells me is that you're denying yourself something you want to do. I'm reminded of your earlier days and how you went too far into the Hurt side of things, now you need to find more Comfort to work on. It tells me that you're more interested in Callie for the Comfort potential and not who she actually is, as was the case with Lilac and the FP cast. You invented Hurt for them because, on their own, they had nothing to offer. At least, nothing you were willing to cherish.
Props to the creativity, but it does seem like you want this and should just go ahead with it. If it really was about what other people think of you, you wouldn't have written DWW or FDWM at all and I believe you struck gold with those BECAUSE you saw them through. You believed in them enough to actually finish what you started and, from the sounds of the hypothetical War Callie, you're already thinking of what's next. If you're having these questions, though, maybe your heart's not in it.

War Lilac and alllllllllll the other Lilacs aren't going away. I'm still gonna work on stuff with them. Just...not as much. I'll still draw them.

I'll be happier with this than I'd ever be with Sonic...not that that's saying much.
I...maybe? JSR is a very 90's game and Splatoon gives off a very 90's vibe.
