Description
Thinking of Christmas, I always enjoy watching A Christmas Carol every year, and now I can't help but think of Hiccup whenever Tiny Tim comes on the screen with his crutch and his grateful attitude even though he can't run like the other boys.In this picture, we have Tim waiting outside his father's workplace in the cold, his hand-me-down attire looking most worn by the time that he inherited them.
A burst of snow has started to fall again, while carolers across the street are hazarding quite a vocal thrashing by singing this close to the business place of old Ebenezar Scrooge.
A gentleman in a top hat exits a shop with packages, and shoppers traversing the distant street hurry to finish their last minute Christmas shopping before they head home to warm by their fireplaces.
Many thanks to Contraltissimo and Pepper who helped spark the idea for this picture in a conversation we had and who also kept quiet about this as I labored on the picture.
**AND FOR FUN, I've put in 11 things for you to find. Most are quite obvious, so don't stress over it such as "Hey, that's Fishlegs!"
Merry Christmas
~Master Rohan
:"God bless us, everyone!"
:"By the way, Hiccup, Fivel called; he wants his hat back."

Clever idea, and very appropriate for the season and characters! You did a great job of combining the 19th century London clothing and architecture with HTTYD characters. And you blended the HTTYD characters well into the setting. (Still not sure how Ruffnut would put up with dressing like a lady, but she seems to have a good attitude about it here=
I am sure I would miss most of the quest references, but I can see you have put in a lot of details into the picture. Also the lighting is just really great. I think it is responsible for most of the holiday ambiance in here, even more so than the snow. (I am actually rather curious how much London actually gets snow for Christmas considering the rather mild winter weather of the southern UK. But we of the Northern hemisphere all want the white Christmas).

By the way .....
.... I actually did hide something referring to you in the picture, but I fear that the snow squall has blinded it. I'll see if anyone finds it before I tell you.

Isn't it funny seeing Ruffnut and Astrid in dresses, especially LONG dresses!
About snow in London, I have no clue about real-world snow around Christmas time in London, but I do know that in every version of A Christmas Carol it's snowing! And lots!

Well, pretty much in every Christmas movie it's snowing. Even though the first Christmas has very little to do with snow.

You know Hollywood: rain and snow make for great ambience!
But though I live in the Southern East Coast, I have had a few white Christmases in my life; however, I'm sure the chances for it happening are MUCH greater where you live.
I remember hearing in years past about blizzards that blew through the north before Christmas, which made retailers very unhappy.
And by the way, I looked up online to see how much snow London gets, especially around Christmas time, and apparently it's just a trace, if any!

I do remember your mentioning snow in one of your journal entries. Well, geographically I know where you are based, now. Nothing sinister, just trying to figure out where everyone I correspond with is based from a geography/tourism perspective. If you live anywhere near the Appalachians you certainly have that chance of getting snow. And I lived for a while in Maryland- we had white Christmases there a few times.
True, in Massachusetts there is a good chance of it (or quite likely). Both Christmases here for me so far have been white.
That is very true about London. In general, the UK has a very mild climate for its location, so rain is more likely than snow in London in the winter.
In the USA as well, the only place in the continental US that will always get snow for Christmas is International Falls, MN. (And, of course, Alaska)

Oh Fjord! I thought you had already figured out the region that I live in. Sorry I didn't share sooner.
We actually get very little snow where I live, so last year's unexpected snow storm shut everything done for about a week. We just don't have all of the snow equipment like up north to keep clear the roads since this kind of thing rarely happens.
But I did love last year's snow! I got so much creative stuff done while I was trapped at home for a week. (Like you after the tropical storm earlier this year)
Well have a white Christmas for me because I seriously doubt I will actually, I will be traveling down to a beach on the gulf this Christmas that has white sand so it will LOOK like snow!
Good to know about Minnesota and Alaska *pencils in: nice to visit, sure don't want to live there*

Lol- for some reason I thought you were in New York or Connecticut. Your hurricane comments earlier and that you missed the hurricane threw some clues or not-clues into the mix. I guess that puts Virginia out of the mix since she got hit by Hurricane Irene. So that puts you somewhere in the Carolina states (North Carolina?) or Georgia. I do think of snow in North Carolina, but not so much in Georgia or South Carolina. If it snows, it puts communities out of commission.
Enjoy the white sugar-sand Christmas in the gulf or Tampa bay area!
I happen to love Minnesota-- one of my favorite states in their unique views of economic freedom but also decent social welfare. So Nordic :-D And I love how they laugh winter in the face and have a great time regardless of the weather. Alaska- I have not been there. Winter does seem harsher there, and that makes the people all the more engaging in their views on the world.

Oh dear me, no, I'm not in New York or Connecticut. OR Virginia; however, one of your other guesses is spot on!
(There you go again with your uncanny guessing!
)
And yes, ANY snow can put my state into panic!
Tell ya what, *pulls out map* I'll happily deed you all of the cold states if you give me all of the warm ones! Deal?
By the way, I actually attend church with a woman that lived most of her life in Alaska. Some of her stories of everyday life there are just very interesting to me, but I'm sure it's stuff that you're already used to visiting countries closer to the Arctic.
One thing that she is very adamant about is that if she were financially able to move back, she would because she says it is very beautiful, almost like living in another world.
But I also wonder how much of that is just because she's now in a totally new environment and craves what she's known for most of her life.

Hello. It's not so much uncanny guessing in this case but using some information you have mentioned in other emails.
So I will just be content with knowing you are in southeast until further info is revealed. Though north more than south given the likelihood of snow.
That is so cool you have the power to give out authority over states. I have no problem with dividing up the states, but I need to make sure I get some with good agriculture. And I get the pacific northwest, too.
I can understand your Alaskan friend. I feel the same about Iceland. My citizenship keeps me from getting work in Europe. Ironically, I have the most chance in non EU places like Iceland and Norway, and both places will hire Nordic people and Europeans over non Europeans. I will get back there, though. My life is not complete until then.
I do think you are right because Alaska is such a unique place and culture that Alaskans feel cramped and crowded out in the Lower 48. It's the way I feel about living here after living in Iceland. It just is not home for me like Iceland it.

Well you certainly put your "little grey cells" to work!
Ah yes! Now onto more frivolous matters: the parceling out of America!
You can have all of the north, including the beautiful timberland of the Pacific Northwest, heck you can have Cananda, too!
All I really want is the warm climate states so that I can wear shorts and grow palm trees during the winter. Aren't I generous!
If we were playing RISK I would be dead within two rounds, maybe three
*reads Fjord's comments about missing Iceland* I'm so sorry to hear that. I feel for you.
You know, I may have a small understanding of what you mean since I was born and lived my earliest childhood in southern Florida (hence the desire for the warm climate states!). I'm always joking with my friends that I will eventually make a pilgrimage there and never return.
Well, here's to learning the value of contentment wherever we are. <--me drinking hot tea
