Description
We are almost done with the fembot Gobots. Presented here is Spay-C. I feel this character offered very little to work with for a non-Gobot fan. I watched the episodes she was in of the cartoon and she did pretty nothing but relay a message twice and be a prisoner the other time. Her other two appearances were just in the background. So coming up with a pose was a pain. I decided to make her drawing be able to be paired with my Pathfinder piece from earlier since they are both space craft. Thus the poses are similar. Coloring was another issue for me. She is all white with black touch ups and chrome. I took liberty with her joints and "astronaut gloves" to add some more color in.

Now for my design. I do not like the wings on the legs with the really long fuselage connectors/lances that the original toy and the cartoon model have. They obviously would always be in the way of movement of the character. So I took it upon myself to rotate those wings up. Now she looked somewhat like the Transformers Astrotrain and Galaxy Shuttle. The Combaticon Blastoff folding his wings back on his legs. All three of those Transformers had space shuttle alt modes. But then I looked up the Super Gobot version of Spay-C. It is totally different. But the wings are up like this design. Win, win! I kept the conehead instead of making it split into a back pack since she has her tail fin on her back. Or making the cone into shoulder pads would clutter up the shoulder area with the wings now moved there. Adding carbon paneling to the conehead was an idea, but I felt that much detail was more than what I put into the other Gobots so far and I want them all to more or less go together as a set. One thing I did not do that was in my initial designs was maintain the huge eyes. In all media I found Spay-C had big eyes. I forgot this when inking and I liked the proportions of her face so I left it alone instead of digitally resizing. I am not sure if the chest stickers were supposed to be windows since the real shuttle did not have windows on it's bay doors, but I saw another magnificent art piece of Spay-C that had them as windows to an interior bay and I stole that idea. I did cheat a little with the flag and the NASA logo. It just looks better than my drawn versions. And, as per my design notes that can be found in my watcher's only gallery, I upgraded her hands from white claws into a facsimile of the gloves the 1980s astronauts used with reinforced finger tips and guard on the back of the hand.

With Spay-C being done there is one glaring absence from my fembot Gobots lineup. She is the final one and should be done before the New Year. Stay tooned.
