Description
More monsters done for the AdventureAWeek "In the Wintery Gale" Pathfinder module. I decided to post more at once because there are still a few more of these and I haven't post them in a while. The horse is a Slipnir (ye, just like Odin's horse), the snake like one is called a "Serpent of the Depth" and the last one is a "Snow Screecher". Enjoy!Related content

This whole series has a blue theme since it's about winter and blue is a cold color.

It's a creature based on the mythical Sleipnir, Odin's horse, who has eight legs. Believe me, it was an anatomical nightmare to structure in such a way to still look ok.

OHH okay .. that would explain thew Digimon "Sleipmon" 6 legged red horse.
Most of the Digimon Japanese named ones have a meaning behind them, either from Greek or Roman mythology. I just started finding out about that last year. Now I know how some of them got their names. They're all connected somehow.
BTW yesterday was my BirthDay 'mon .. lol

Happy birthday. Hopefully you had a good party with your friends.
I don't know much about Pokemon to be honest but most Japanese anime involving mythology show their interest in european legends and myths.

Yeah I was just starting to notice that a year or two ago. (its actually Digimon ) I was starting to be like .. where have I heard that name before ? I find it interesting now to see how they got their names. You've noticed that too .. that's cool. I should ask YOU where certain names came from .. LOL This is making me get interested in Mythology more. I always liked any kind of Monster or Beasts.

Mythology is very interesting. Entertaining factor aside, it's exciting when you realize you're reading about same stories that got changed by people through centuries and millennia, from the Enuma Elish of the Summerians, to the Hindu and the Egyptians, the Greek, the Nors and Christians, from legend to religion. It's an impressive metamorphosis to look upon if you take the time and have the patience.

N-ice !!
I saw a comment you said that part of the merit goes to the guys who had the original ideas. So are most of these your ideas.
Keep up the good work , hope you are still creating !!

I get a general description of a creature, something akin to: "large ape like creature with four arms". The rest is up to me. I come up with a sketch of my own design and send it for approval. If needed, they send back directions like: "bigger arms" or "add more eyes" after which I correct the sketch and send over the new sketch. So its a collaboration of ideas and imagination bounced between me and the client. Usually I get it right in the first try but once in a while, corrections are requested.

Thank you. Part of the merit goes to the guys who had the original ideas. I just took their descriptions and run it through my imagination machine.

I admire your talent and sklil for how you've painted all of them.. and also how they all perfectly fit into the same world where dominates winter and freeze. The tones of blue are breathtaking, magical and the brown and raspeberry reds complement them greatly

Well, having a bit of warmth to contrast with the cold colors brings a bit of life into each creature. They need to feel like living beings after all, not just blocks of ice.

I absolutely agree, you've breathed life in them I wish Warcraft would have such awesome creatures on their winter maps, I would still gladly return to them to have a lot of fun

I really love the snake!!!!! All of them look really cool (no pun intended) but the snake really stood out to me. And I love the wisps coming off the yeti guy!

That snake was a pain in the ass in all honesty. Painting all those scales and keeping them shaped over the twists and turns of the body was a real challenge. But the result was worth it after all.

Oh I can imagine! I did a drawing of a dragon sculpture YEARS ago in school and had a hard time trying to get all the scaling correct! It did turn out really gorgeous in the end for your snake but I can imagine detailing it got..nerve-wracking so to speak!

Nerve wracking kind of sums it up. But in the end it payed up and thats what's important.

damn, your artwork never disappoints.
Looks great as always!
The head of the serpent looks amazing (i might even steal parts of it for my own future designs ) and I love what you did with the muscles in the others.

Glad if I can offer inspiration and thank you for all the kind words. For the horse I had to use a reference. In all honesty doing an eight legged horse is one of the hardest things I had to do on this project.

Noice. I like the blue glowing stuff on Sleipnir (don't know exactly how to describe it).

Its just how I tried to suggest the horse has some kind of magic speed.
