I can understand why you don't get this picture since honestly I don't think that there's a meaning or symbolism. Maybe there is but I don't get it either.

But even though I don't find any meaning, I do find this attractive. Hard to explain I guess, but I really like the tones, the colors, the softness. For me, it's not just a blurry, there is some kind of texture to which make this interesting. There is movement also, not just a static blurry shot.

Yeah, you could say that this is a random pic and maybe you would be right, only the author knows, but would it change a thing?

Anyway, this is just my point of view...

Yeah, it could just be a matter of personal taste. But overall, I'm not sure it's that amazing to warrant a DD? I don't know.

I guess I don't find it attractive simply because you can't tell if it was carefully done or just randomly snapped and blurry, you know? I can't grasp the way it was shot, I can't tell if it was artistically thought out and set up, and that leaves me sort of "eh" about it, if that makes sense. For me, personally, I like to be able to see the effort and work that goes into a shot, because when it comes down to it, anyone can take a camera, point it, and take a picture. You know?

oops, I did not see you were discussing in an interesting way
first, your comment is not a problem ... you do not like but you are polite and you argue why ... so I do not see any problem.
Concerning the DD, of course there are lot of better pictures on the site and I am sorry for that. It is luck ... and overall, I am not responsible for the DD. Even if it is a nice surprise !

- I do not think you need to know if it was difficult or not to take a picture to like it. I see a picture, I like it or not, for many reasons, but the difficulty won't make me like if I did not like at first nor 'easiness' won't make not like if I liked at first. For me the picture is more interesting that how it was made. But this is only my point of view, and of course I respect yours.
- some precisions about this picture. It is not random, and I do not think it is easy to do. I began to do such pictures in 2003, and you can see the first ones here : [link] hoto&a=dnivet
I do not think you can make these pictures randomly (maybe one but not many), and I was laughing at one of the comments which said 'it is a so easy to take picture' ... no ... if you want a nice result (and of course nice depends of personal taste). Try it and you will see that you need to control the light, the movement, the background, the flower you use and so on ...
Of course, I am doing more pictures than I keep. Some are awful, but they help me to adapt my lights, movement ... It is like if you take photos of a woman in studio. You first make preliminary shots to adjust flash and so on. And after, you make many pictures, some are nice and some are awful because of your framing or because of a bad expression of the model ... Do you consider studio pictures are easy ? I guess not ...

Moi je pensais pas que c'tait random. Ya trop de détails qui font que ça l'air "prévu". Mais c'est sur que c'est dur à dire avec des photos comme ça. En fait tu pourrais bien me dire que "oui" ou "non" c'est fait exprès, je te croirais. Mais je pense aussi comme toi, que faire des belles photos abstraites, c'est pas n'importe quoi. Ca parait quand ya du travail, et comme je disais, sur cette photo, j'aime beaucoup le fait que c'est pas juste flou. Ya dla texture, les teintes sont superbes et c'est bien cadré. Ca me surprend pas trop non plus de t'entendre dire que ça fait longtemps que tu pratiques ça.

Et pour ce qui est de "est-ce que ca change qqch que ca soit prévu ou pas" Bin je suis pas mal d'accord avec toi. Moi en tant que photographe, j'aime mieux quand je prévois la photo, et ça m'écoeure un peu quand ya du monde qui font n'importe quoi et que c'est beau, mais bon, il y en a qui ont plus de chance que d'autre faut croire...

Hey no prob. I often critics dev, and I often feel a bit unsure of "how will this be perceive by the authors" so I know how you feel. But I think that your comment was allright. You didn't just bitch the dev. You explain your point of view and I think this is good. I'm not much of a "flamer" anyway

And I totally agree whit the "was this intentional or not" questionnement. This is often something I think about when I look at pictures, even sometime in my own... but there it's hard to tell for other people exept the author. I do feel that this was a bit random, but maybe it's not. Maybe it's a lucky mistake, or not, either way, it doesn't change the result, right?

I think it's more an "ethic" question here. Anyway I'm at work so I can't take too much time.

And oh! About the DD thing, well... there are a lot of things which doesn't merit DD and got some, and I think that this one deserve it much that a lot of things I see sometime (like the iPod today... but you know, no one likes the same kind of art, so I guess it's normal that not everyone like the same things)

becuase of the inspiration and the fact that it actually looks nice. just becuase something might be easy to do doesn't make it worthless. while genius might be 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, art can be the other way around.
