This is a character set I made for a fan sequel to The Legend of Korra.
Titles are hard, man...

I used posing software called DesignDoll. I only use the trial version, but I recommend it. I don't have a link though...

SPOILERS FOR AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER AND THE LEGEND OF KORRA (?)

The series exists under the assumption that Korra, the previous Avatar, died at the age of 31 in 184 AG, 10 years after the end of The Legend of Korra. This fan sequel starts in 206 AG, 22 years after Avatar Korra's death.
It's supposed to include experimentation regarding bending and spirits, which would allow me to introduce my own ideas for bending styles (none of which the main characters would have).

CHARACTERS:

  BAN XIAOLI, [Green]
Ban is the protagonist of the story as well as the Avatar after Korra. She relies on Metalbending the most.
Ban was born in Gaoling, the same town Toph Beifong was born in, to the Xiaoli family. After finding out at an incredibly young age that she was the Avatar, she began training right away. Her parents took advantage of her position as Avatar to gain wealth and fame. Because of this, Ban hardly had a childhood and resented her Avatar status as well as Avatar Korra for being the only past life she could turn to. She instead wished to become a researcher. When she was seventeen years old, Ban ran away after learning the basics of all of the elements and seemingly disappeared off the face of the earth. She hoped to pave her own way in the world and always thought of the Avatar as a figure head in the current day.
When Ban reemerges, she wears a Fire Nation Fox mask to hide the birthmarks on her face. She does this so she can do the Avatar's job without getting sucked into politics or being restricted by the fame of being the Avatar. She now believes she should do her job without expecting a reward because she is the Avatar, but because she's doing the right thing.
Ban has two black stripes on her right cheek, making her incredibly identifiable. Her eyes are blood red, adding to her memorable face, and she has her bangs pulled back messily on top of her head. She used to be identified by her long, silky hair tied back in twisted braids, so she cut her hair to be short and messy. The coat wrapped around her waist was her uniform as a researcher, a job she held for a short time but did very well. She has a thick yet muscular figure. Before she disappeared, she was much thinner, so she added more muscle and fat to her so she would be less recognizable. She finds she's quite happy with her figure.

  NOVA [Blue]
Nova is the deuteragonist of the story as well as the "Avatar Link". She's a Waterbender who pioneered a healing practice that combines plantbending and traditional waterbending.
Nova was born in Republic City, but grew up on Ember Island with her father, who was born in the Fire Nation, and brother after their mother left them. There, she learned Waterbending from a friend of her father's from the Northern Water Tribe. During her childhood, she was visited by a spirit that bestowed her with an unknown power and prophecy that she would someday come across the Avatar and become an important piece in the Avatar's duties.
When the series begins, Nova is 19, almost 20, years old. She appears in a small Earth Kingdom village where she escapes a group of pushy citizens since the village rarely gets visitors. She meets Ban in an alley and talks to her about how she wishes to meet the Avatar someday, and learns of Ban's opinion on the Avatar gaining publicity. She soon has to heal Ban, and ends up sensing her chi and discovers Ban is the Avatar. Later, the spirit that visited Nova once before visits her again, and Nova discovers that she is able to connect Ban with the rest of her past lives as well as enhance her Avatar state. Nova then accompanies Ban and becomes her Waterbending teacher.
Nova has long, black hair braided back into a half ponytail that is longer than the rest of her hair. Her eyes are pale blue, and she has a small symbol resembling the two spirit portals branded onto the back of her left shoulder. She's near-sighted, so she requires glasses. She also has a delicate figure, but she's flexible and nimble.

KUNCHEN [Yellow]
Kunchen is the tritagonist of the story. He is an Airbender who left the Temples to pave his own path.
Kunchen was born in the Western Air Temple and quickly mastered Airbending. By the age of 12, like Aang, he received his tattoos, which symbolized his mastery of Airbending. When he was sixteen, he left the Air Temple to travel the world and learn about the different styles of bending to see if he could incorporate them into his own unique style of airbending. Kunchen convinced himself that his unorthodox approaches to airbending got him exiled so he would not feel the need to return home. Since he incorporates throwing knives and whatever weaponry he has into his airbending, he believes that he is unfit to teach at the Air Temples and to represent what it means to be an Air Nomad. Once he left the Air Temples behind, he stopped associating himself with the culture as if he were an active practitioner (even though he still meditates, stays away from eating meat, and follows Air Temple teachings.... he hasn't really figured everything out for himself.)
When he is introduced, Kunchen is 21 years old. He joins up with Ban and Nova after finding out that they are after the same thing; they are all investigating the disappearances of Airbenders within Republic City. During that mission, Nova and Ban discover Kunchen's search for his path in life. After they successfully rescue the Airbenders, Kunchen decides that his purpose is to aid the Avatar in her quest to keep the world in balance.
Kunchen has grey eyes and messy brown hair as well as a slight beard. Unlike Ban, he does not have a built despite his aggressive approach to airbending. He's very nimble, but his airbending style often relies on swift, straightforward motions unlike the dance-like movements of previous airbenders.

TAKASHI [Red]
Takashi is a contagonist of the story. He is a firebender, a former dancer, and a probender.
Takashi was born in Republic City where he began to learn dancing. He soon discovered he was a firebender, and began incorporating his dancing into his firebending, creating a combination he found to be both fun and effective. He began probending when he was fifteen ad soon started living on his own. After taking a year to himself at age seventeen, he met Kunchen and immediately became his friend. The two kept in touch and kept swapping ideas for new forms of fire and airbending, tweaking their styles based off of the other's advice.
Takashi is introduced, at age 22, during the probending arc, where Nova joins his team, the Blue Stars, in order to win the tournament and stop whoever has been attacking the other teams. They only agree since Takashi begs Ban and Kunchen insists on her helping his friend. It is later revealed, many adventures later, that Takashi's parents were involved in highly controversial experiments regarding spirits and bending.
Takashi has dark brown hair and mismatching eyes, the left being brown and the right being yellow. He has a small scar on his left cheek and a massive burn on his right side (as a result of probending). His clothes mask his built figure, and he always looks like his eyes are closed. Because of this, Kunchen sometimes calls him "Fox Face Junior" because he is younger than Ban (who wears a Fox mask) and looks a little like a fox.

  FUN FACT TIME:
- Ban was originally meant to be the protagonist of a sequel series for Shift Star
- "Nova" is, as far as I know, a Native American name. I found that pretty awesome...
- I chose Kunchen's name not only because it's Tibetan, but because the Air Nomad Avatar before Aang was named Yangchen. It's a slight nod to her.
- The reason Ban is from the Earth Kingdom is because it follows the Avatar Cycle. Some people don't know that the Avatar after Korra is supposed to be Earth Kingdom (I thought it was completely random until I rewatched the first series)
- Takashi is inspired by Suyin Beifong's metaldancers and by Mako from The Legend of Korra.
- Ban got her Fire Nation fox mask during a festival. She chose it so she would be seen as a masked hero doing good for the sake of good as opposed to the Avatar, where she would be tempted to choose disagreeable sides.
- It's entirely possible that there are airbender subgroups since Korra and Tenzin didn't get to persuade every airbender to come with them to the Air Temples. So... what if Probending included airbenders? What if there were more antagonists that are airbenders, like Zaheer (only with better voices...) DUN DUN DUN
