Personality: Like most EB stallions, Mud is grumpy and angry. He loathes stallions and even though he seems pretty calm usually, if he's put in the pasture with another stallion, he'll fight to the death. However, he's gentle around foals and around most mares. It's very hard to gain his trust, but once you do, it'll take a lot to lose it.
Background: Mud was born a wild ballator before being captured and domesticated. His foalhood was anything but pleasant, as his father was very violent, like most ballator stallions. However, his father seemed to only take his anger out on his son. This instilled a hatred of other stallions in Mud and he did his best to stay away from his father. His mother, on the other hand, was soft and gentle, but also sly as a fox. She never used her tricks on Mud, but she had probably used them on his father. Once Mud was old enough to leave and live on his own, he left without a word to either of his parents. He didn't get to live alone for very long; he was captured around 2 and a half years of age and brought to an auction house, where he was sold to the highest bidder. His new owner was a woman, who reminded him much of his mother. On the outside she was calm, quiet, and gentle. But on the inside, she was sly and determined to get what she wanted. She broke Mud herself, not bothering to earn his trust, but only seeing him as a way to get to the top of dressage.
