Description A 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback

This car right here is my dream car. I would have this over any other. I don't care if its not the fastest in the world, or doesn't have the best handling, it's just hot! For 2 years when I wasd 18-20 I owned a 1966 Mustang Coupe and thats what set it off... I have the bug. I had to part company with it (no, i didn't write if off) and it was the saddest day of my life. My one goal now is to buy a 1966 Fastback and restore it to something along the lines of this illustration.

This was my first ever serious attempt at a vector based illustration. I read a few tutorials, decided on an approach and had a crack at it. I think the result is quite alright. Looking back, and having refined my technique a fair bit, I would have done some things differently, but overall, I'm quite happy with it.

This illustration took a total of about 10 hours to complete.

i dig the new wheels and stance and i might also add that this car is nowhere near stock. in one of the shots of it i've seen online you can see rack and pinion steering underneath. there are so many aftermarket products out there, especially for Mustangs that they can handle as good as any car and there is no limit to what engine you can put in them so they can be as fast as any car too. the 66 only got as big as the 289 from the factory but even it was a little rocket. Shelby put down plenty of wins with his HiPo 289 and it didn't have many mods beyond the stock version. the Cobra and the first GT350s used it before getting a big block.

Thanks for the feedback mate. Looking at some of your artwork I see you are a Mustang fan too.

And you are spot on in picking that this mustang is a long way from stock. This particular mustang runs a 5.0L 'Cammer' motor with quad downdraught 48mm Weber race carbs producing well over 400hp and does have rack and pinion steering. These are all fairly easy mods to do to an early Mustang, hence the appeal. When I finally build my dream Mustang, I would like to fit it with a late model 302ci fuel injected Windsor so I can use Bio-Ethanol when it becomes more readily available. There is alot of power to be made from ethanol based fuels, but they have a tendancy to kill old motors. A nice mix of old and new is the go in my opinion.

for sure. my brother and I are building a 68 Firebird that will get an FI 350 from the late 80s I think. I have a 67 Mustang coupe made up like a GT too but it's running a more stock, crate 289. a 5.0 would be tight though.
